Autoexpress.co.uk is showing some possible renderings for the alleged 2015 MINI Sportscar that is slated to replace the Roadster and Coupester. The newcomers are believed to be codenamed the MINI F58 (hard-top) and Mini F59 (soft-top) and are due to go on sale in late 2015 or 2016. Not sure, just a rendering so it may or may not look like that. I do like the idea of a MINI sports car/roadster.
Still sits on the same platform as the F56, will use the same engines as the F56, will be offered in a hardtop and softtop version. Sure sounds like the current low selling coupe/roadster combo it is suppose to replace.
The current Coupster/Roadster twins are the same as the Hardtop from the beltline down for the most part. This design exercise is new body work.
....really a nice look...they even toned down the fugly "fishmouth" of the F56. Any renderings of the hardtop?
Given the projected 2015 or 2016 release date, I can always trade in my Roadster S within a year or two thereafter. New models don't necessarily shake me up if I thoroughly enjoy the existing model. I drive 6,000 miles or so per year, so my MINI should be in great shape when decision time nears.
I like it, smaller side scuttles are a big plus. Haha!! Never have understood why the current ones are so tall. Production car will not sit that low. It's high time they come out with higher HP engine for a "sports car" and their bigger cars in the line up. But I keep forgetting BMW needs to keep the MINI getting better and better MPG to help their cars with the Cafe or Carb or whatever it's called ..
That looks pretty decent... I would probably drive one, if the engine wasn't crap. Now if they would throw that body on a 135i or 1M, rear drive and all, that would be a keeper!
It looks ok, but sorry it will never happen. I only say that because it looks too good to be true and the taillights are HUGE and the windshield is too high. PS if it does not come in Chili Red who really cares. All sports cars have a red version.
