I think they need to pay attention to how few people voted overall (far fewer once you eliminate the duplicates) and drop this turd in the same hole as the new quali format, but my guess is they'll decide it just needs more time to catch on.
Which, by the way, was Force India's opinion on the quali debacle. They've said they voted against dropping the new format, not because they were enamored of it but because it wasn't given enough time to succeed and they didn't have enough time to consider it properly...much like the slap-dash process that produced the idea in the first place. -

Did you mind when it was all red cars then blue cars? I whined a bit, but realized the tide would turn as it always does. The same will happen with the silver cars. Maybe this is Manor's turn. FWIW as long as there is good racing I'm OK with whoever wins.

The team with the fastest car wins. It's the potential for upsets that makes the drama.
Though I agree with the drivers, somethings' gotta change if the sport is to survive. Maybe get it off pay TV, allow more innovation and variation among the cars, stop messing with a qualifying format that worked? -
Getting it off pay TV just failed. Sky Sports has an exclusive for the UK starting in 2019.
Formula 1 will no longer be shown on terrestrial television from 2019 after Sky Sports announced it had agreed an exclusive deal to broadcast the sport.

Bernie's reply to the GPDA.
Of course, Bernie only agrees because he wants to dump all the processes that stop him ruling like a dictator and making all the decisions himself. Everyone will read a generic "change it" through their own filters, based on their own biases. Be careful what you ask for...

Terrestrial TV, what is that? /s

Meanwhile, my kids and their peers, even though they are some of the few who still care about cars and motorsports, have never watched cable television, will never get cable in their lives. If you can't watch it on a computer or phone, it doesn't really exist for them. Unless F1 becomes available online and free, they will become a small footnote in the 21st century entertainment ecosystem. It just seems F1 is so full of itself they don't see that writing on the wall. Just look how NASCAR has dropped off - their audience is dying out and few young fans are being added. TV ratings dropping, empty seats, unheard of 15 years ago.
There's a lot of competition for the attention of young people, and with most of them happy to have a Uber app on their phone rather than to own a car and pay outrageous insurance rates for it, it's difficult to see how the motorsports industry is going to keep drawing an audience, at least in this country. -
^^^I think sad but true.

My kids are the same way. But I like sitting in a comfortable chair and watching stuff on a big screen in high resolution. With a lot of ISPs limiting bandwidth streaming hd won't be wide spread for a while.

Check this out, tis a good read.

Will Buxton has an interesting idea for qualifying. First he outlines the current flaws, then proposes a fix.

I like Buxton's idea, but I'd give them two laps, outlap - one qually lap, then the last one.
