Both options were nearly unanimously criticized as being artificial aids to improve the show rather than the sport. -

The race was not broadcast in regular cable in my area so I didn't get to see the race. They keep getting pre-empted by poker, or golf or, in this case, Wimbledon Tennis.
Doesn't matter anymore. We all know Mercedes has been sand bagging the whole season. If they can crash into each other and still have both cars on the podium, you know, they still have one more performance step over everybody else. All for "the show".
I somehow feel the entire season is being orchestrated. Rosberg looked good only because Mercedes wanted to look like they were promoting driver equality, but Hammy is faster as a driver naturally. So to equalize it, he will have some "bad luck". To have Rosberg be told to avoid 7th gear and endure only a 10 sec penalty (when your car is at least 20 seconds faster than anybody else anyways), but refusing to tell Hammy which button to push to set an engine mode tells me the results are being manipulated anyways.
For me, the highlight of the season would be the emergence of mad Max as a possible future great driver.
I hope the rule changes for 2017 upsets the current pecking order. But F1 is so wrapped in internal politics, I just have a feeling not a lot is going to change. -

A bit of insight from Steve Matchett:

Horner says if given the chance he will vote against the introduction of the halo for 2017. Basically saying it's not yet ready so not yet worth doing. Assuming he vetoes, the FIA will need to either invoke its use anyway on safety grounds or kick it down the road for further development with intent to introduce something in 2018.

Too many people would have to be involved to seriously believe that there is a conspiracy.

You know how conspiracies are. Kind of delusional thinking, but heck whatever floats your boat. I liked in the old days when they hired another driver to be the designated hitter.

Things are back as they should be after yesterday
Couple of observations:
Really enjoying the Kimi and Max show!
Vettel is turning into a grouchy Old Fart ....."Get off my line"
What has happened to Williams? -

Yep, like most F1 races, it was all over by the end of the first lap......it's getting harder and harder to stay interested in it. Nowadays I record the race and fast forward thru all the commercials and "side by side" parts which leaves me with about 30 min of racing out of two hours......seems to be enough.
I am really tired of Lewis Hamilton - tired of hearing his name, tired of seeing his smirk......just.......well you get my drift. -

Hamilton Wins!!!
Lewis won & for me that is great, like him or not he is the best driver out there now. Having the best car helps, but he's doing the driving. Max vs Kimi, couldn't believe all the blocking young Max was doing. I was quite surprised Kimi didn't punt him off track. Yes Vettel needs to take his meds to calm down a bit. Although I'm sure driving the Red car is a real pressure cooker of a job.
Lewis is now leading the championship so it was a good race. :yesnod:
Here's a smirk for you.....

Hamilton is the best, but yeah, he's hard to take sometimes...
As for F1 being decided in the first lap, you're right, but it's been that way for awhile now. Heck, it's even worse than that--many of the races are decided in qualifying.
Rossberg gonna be driving a Buick next year, instead of a Mercedes.... -

Why do you say that? He just re-signed with Benz for another 2 year hitch....
-
They've stopped broadcasting races in my area. I have to buy additional pay channels to watch F1 now. So I will just assume Mercedes has won already.
Actually, I thought they won after the .. oh...2nd race of the season. -
