The article seemed to indicate that Bernie would still be working so probably not much of a change. But since the new guy seems to be a media person, then maybe he understands the value of putting the sport on channels people can actually watch, and he might even know what the Internet is.
Bernie (I'm pretty sure) still has an 8086 running DOS 3.0 and refuses to get rid of it because it "works just fine." All his communications are on the old roll-feed paper from a dot-matrix printer. :/ -
Heh, Hamilton is to receive a 30 place grid penalty at Spa, so basically being Europe is compact, he'll be starting from across the border in Germany.

It gets even better. Alono used so many engine tokens he's getting a 35 place grid penalty. Guess he'll be starting from home in Spain.

I like the intrigue that this brings to the race...Can Lewis still get on the podium from the back of the pack, can Nico not ***** himself and take advantage of the situation. I really enjoy watching Hammy race when these type of things happen, it typically reinforces to me how good of a driver he actually is. -

All indications point to this being a very interesting race. Yes Nico can fark himself, at least that's my hope. :fingerscrossed:

Did I hear right; Hamilton is up to 55 grid places drop? If so, I assume because the rules don't specifically disallow banking power unit penalties all at once that one might need before the end of the season.
-
55 grid penalty is stupid... Once they have put you at the back of the field why not go ahead and replace everything you can on the car. If Hamilton wins the championship, this will be the winning move of the season.
-
It just means that he moves to the back of the grid. If he didn't go out in Q3 then here would have had to start from the pit lane. Alonso is behind him on the grid because not only did he have a penalty, he also didn't go out for qualifying. Not sure if he starts from the pit though. The others who have penalties either had lower numbers of grid spaces deducted, or did better in qualifying.
If every car on the grid had say a 30 place penalty, then the order of the penalties given determines the order on the grid. I think. -
Yep, 55 grid place penalty. He'll be starting from his ranch in Colorado.
-
The only way the system would remotely make sense is if they still had to qualify (wear and tear on equipment) and if the penalty is beyond the starting grid for that race, the left over grid penalties should be applied to the next race after they have qualified, and so on from race to race until all are used up...
Hard to believe grown men and women came up with such a ridiculous system... -
The reason they don't carry over is so as to not ruin a driver's season.

Was worried that Lewis had made a bad choice by starting on the grid with all the contact that was going on over the first lap. Was really thinking that he had a chance to get the win at one point, but was happy that he stayed ahead of Nico in the standings and ended up on the podium.

Fact: Hamilton made up 18 places and only made four passes. Guy must have the best rabbit foot ever....

Ouch!
Magnussen says he'll be ready to drive again this weekend at Monza. I think you could make a strong case that his car took the brunt of that incident.
