They have a contract with Mercedes but if can be broke Merc will do it. I can't see them letting Renault have all that time to have a look-see.

And if they do break the contract ( no way MBZ is letting Renault have those engines all season) , that would be the perfect chance for Red Bull to swoop in and grab them instead of running the "No Name" Renault engines!
That could really change the complexion of the season, wouldn't it? -

Looks like the F1 championship is being decided in the meeting rooms instead of the track for the next 4 years. The groups all decided that no low cost engine. Instead the manufactures will supply power units at a loss to other teams. So Merc stays on top with Ferrari the only potential competition. They won't supply the same engine to anyone that could beat them.
The new aero regs that were to happen in 2017 have been watered down to basically wider tires. Merc has concerns that added down force will effect the tires. (read Red Bull will do it better than us and we'll be eating tires) So of course Pirelli jumps in because they don't want tires blowing up like before. So all the cool new chassis changes that could shift the competition back to the teams from the engines is gone.
Bye bye F1 -

F1 will go on. Will it be what many would like it to be? No it won't but there will be some good racing. Maybe if Benz painted their cars red it would make folks happier, who knows. It is racing & that is good enough for me. Hoping for a good fight up front this year. :fingerscrossed:

Small clarification: The article says "next year" but it's this June.
Also, way to plan ahead, Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is such a bad idea in so many ways. Way to grab cash there Bernie, like you don't have enough.

That is great news for Honda. I just hope the competition didn't find an extra 320HP.

Or...........maybe not......
Honda plays down 200hp power boost reports
Honda has dismissed speculation it has found more than a whopping 200 horse power over the winter break.
Earlier, the Spanish sports daily AS claimed McLaren's works engine partner had closed the gap to the leading manufacturers for 2016 by improving the internal combustion engine and troublesome energy recovery systems.
"Sakura, the Honda factory in Japan, has worked 24 hour shifts without Christmas holidays," correspondent Manuel Franco wrote.
But Honda told Britain's Sky on Monday: "These reports are unsubstantiated and merely speculative, and we ask fans and media alike to treat them as such."
