Here's some trick engine tech. I've never heard of Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI). F1’s power secret (motorsportmagazine.com) Full article here.
Spoiler alert* . . . . . . . . . . . Crazy first lap and a lot of good racing with everyone trying to recover as Rosberg ran off to his sixth win in a row!!! Now what in heck was the braintrust at McLaren thinking when they went with medium tires and a one stop strategy....
I thought it was a fun race, although I knew once Ricky Racer had his flat the winner was no longer in question.....still the rest of the race sure had a ton of action..... But Rosbug finishing 30+ seconds ahead of the rest does not bode well for the rest of the season - for anyone not in a MBZ at least.
I thought it was the best race yet. Lost of action, lots of racing, even if the winner was uncontested.
The +30 second interval from 1st to 2nd is slightly misleading since Rosberg had one less stop than the others. Wonder how close it would have been if the others could have done a 2 stop strategy.
If you followed the lap times, Rosberg was on cruise control for most the race, he didn't have to change tires as much because he wasn't pushing the car much...
Considering the race result -- they finished 15th, 19th and 13th, respectively -- this is surprising.
Takes more than one fast lap to finish well. That being said it's good to see these guys putting in a hot lap.
I feel sorry for Hulkenberg, though, as I'm starting to wonder how much more we'll see of Force India. India suspended Mallya's passport a week or so ago and today I read a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Maybe the Hunk can get Kimi's seat as it looks like he might retire at the end of the season. Who wouldn't want to answer "we have a Hulk"
A 30 second lead for the race winner isn't unusual. RedBull regularly put in that kind of lead when they were dominant. So has every other dominant team, pretty much ever. At least it wasn't Jim Clark's 1963 Four Minutes and 54 Second lead over Bruce McLaren at Spa.
I agree but Mr. Hamilton does not: "That screen looks so bad. It looks like a bloody riot shield." "You've got this cool, elegant, futuristic F1 car, and you've got a crappy riot shield sitting on top of it." He's all for safety "... as long as it doesn't affect the aesthetics, the style and the coolness of Formula 1." :rolleyes5:
