I'm hardly an insider. Well I am sitting inside my house in my comfy leather chair while I watch F1 so maybe I am. I'm waiting on Bernie's call so I can tell him how to make the circus better.
Very cool, if true. Honda said to have found 220 horse-power during off season (grandprixtimes.com) Full article here.
Or...........maybe not...... Honda plays down 200hp power boost reports Honda has dismissed speculation it has found more than a whopping 200 horse power over the winter break. Earlier, the Spanish sports daily AS claimed McLaren's works engine partner had closed the gap to the leading manufacturers for 2016 by improving the internal combustion engine and troublesome energy recovery systems. "Sakura, the Honda factory in Japan, has worked 24 hour shifts without Christmas holidays," correspondent Manuel Franco wrote. But Honda told Britain's Sky on Monday: "These reports are unsubstantiated and merely speculative, and we ask fans and media alike to treat them as such." (GMM)
I'm waiting for Bernie to die. Well, that's harsh. Perhaps I should say I'm waiting for him to cease to exist any longer. It's been a long wait.
I thought Bernie died a while ago. Trouble is he still exists as the zombie of F1. He needs a wooden stake driven through his coal black heart.
Oh boy. Grand Prix drivers want Formula 1 chiefs to introduce a 'halo' closed cockpit design by 2017 at the latest. Article and additional photos here: F1 drivers call for closed cockpits by 2017 .
So, in just over one year, we can expect to be able to visually identify all F1 drivers simply by their cross-eyed appearance. .
They, or Wurz (at least), think it should be just a rubber stamp at this point. Sounds like they're forgetting all the other sides of this. The modifications to the chassis, I agree, shouldn't be a major issue. The trouble is they're trying to end up with a perfect design that allows driver extrication as well as the cars of today. They can probably implement something more protective by 2017 as long as they're willing to stop worrying about that last part ... something tells me that won't happen.
I think they should all sit in it in a simulator first. I'll bet they come out with a different opinion.
If'n the drivers believe there is need for more safety then a solid attempt should be made to try to come up with a safer vehicle to race.
A bit of F1 related news: Rubens Barrichello just announced as fourth driver for Wayne Taylor at the Daytona 24H. Barrichello Added to Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP for Rolex 24 - Sportscar365
They charge too much for the race. This was the down fall of F1 in Indy. F1 needs to get a clue, if your race does not pay for its self then their is a problem. I don't believe the government should have to help pay for sports.
I'm not for government $pending on $port$. There are so many other places that money could be used to help folks.
I've seen speculation about this for weeks and was waiting for confirmation. Meh, close enough. Kevin Magnussen set to replace Pastor Maldonado at Renault (skysports.com) Full article here.
