That was a pretty good race. Lot's of action all over the field, no long lulls between the interesting bits. More like this please.
I'm thinking it is not about Lewis Hamilton winning that bothers some folks, but somehow it's his ethnic makeup or lifestyle & choice of friends. All I care about is his driving a race car. The rest of it means nothing to me. He's a damn fine racer who may or may not win the F1 championship. I'm hoping he does. :yesnod:
In my case, I may be as judgemental as most others re a person's lifestyle but that's not my issue with Hamilton. At most, stories about his lifestyle elicit an eye roll. I just don't like the attitude he occasionally shows outside the car. Whether it's someone in sports or any other area, if I don't like your attitude I'll be happy to see you taken down a peg. I'm happy to see F1 drivers actually show their personality but that doesn't mean I'm going to automatically like every F1 driver's personality type...just like in my personal life. That said, he's a great driver and I'm glad he's pedaling an F1 car...but more often than not I'm rooting for someone else. I'll also point out that we get to see very little of the personalities of other drivers because the spotlight isn't on them. It's possible I'd like Hamilton a lot more (on a relative scale) and smile less at his misfortune if I knew more about the others.....
He is a poor loser and winner, has nothing to do with the color of his skin, but it doesn't surprise me that some of his fans... would interject that... Rosberg for the Win!
Wow. I didn't think you would go there. It may be true in some cases, like the black masks back in Spain. I just don't like him. I don't care for his whining, his "I deserve to win" attitude, his "I should always be number one", his poor looser and winner, and more. I didn't like Senna either and he wasn't black. That doesn't say that either of them aren't/weren't good or great drivers.
Just my .02 & we know what that is worth. Sorry I touched a raw nerve with my thoughts guys. ALL drivers piss & moan if they are not winning, it is their nature. Great racers want to win above all else. No one races for third place, well maybe Ferrari does. About Max.... I think Max is one of these racer's too. He needs to mature a bit, but for a kid of his age he's damn good. If he can get in the right car we'll see him fighting for championships.
I read a good opinion piece on Ferrari and their problems. It basically says that they are back to their pre Schumacher days where all the Italians are fighting each other and the rest are afraid of loosing their jobs to an emotional out burst. So no one is coming up with original ideas and taking a risk. Unfortunately it sounds about right. We may be seeing the great team flounder around until they get a strong uniting force. In the mean time we'll get to see Red Bull go kick some butt.
I kind of thought Vettel would have been that strong force, but lately he is floundering around the track?? Kimi has stepped his game up a couple of notches. I'm enjoying the Ferrari Red Bull fight. This year is about over, next year may shake things up. :fingerscrossed:
There is also an opinion piece floating around out there by Martin Brundle that Seb has lost his mojo. http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/24182/10609365/sebastian-vettel-may-not-be-in-f1-for-long-haul-says-martin-brundle Lets not forget that Ferrari the company and Ferrari the Race Team have been taken over by Sergio Marchionne, who by all accounts is a bit of pain in the ass. Check out this article about the man. http://www.autoextremist.com/current/2015/8/31/the-full-sergio-a-truly-ugly-sight-to-behold.html
You need a strong person to be the head of an F1 team. But I think his methods don't quite work. Fear can be a good motivator but it will crush innovation.
On the face of it old hatchet face doesn't look like a very pleasant guy. I would think it is a terrible environment to work in. Pressure cooker of a place for sure. FWIW I think Seb may have peaked already & is on the downward side of the bell curve. Time will tell if he can get back to his past form. There are many talented drivers waiting for his seat.
This will quickly turn into one of those finger pointing games when Wolff and Lauda decide to have their turn. Might get ugly. They'll say he's lying, of course, and probably say he's paranoid and making things up to get some publicity for his book. FWIW, I'm more inclined to believe Brawn..... Brawn: I couldn’t trust people at Mercedes (grandprix247.com)
I think Merc wanted Ross out of the way. When they brought the 3 guys in I knew they were pushing him out.
