BMW has moved from a performance status symbol to a fashion statement..... MINI is following in the same steps....

Read the bottom comments--if you're looking for a fun car on the track, this is it (2006), now, 2014, those comments are nowhere to be found...
From 2006:
"Despite its rough ride and twitchy in-town manners, the Mini Cooper S is a hoot that many hard-core enthusiasts would still give the nod over the other two. Its excellent power and light weight make it the purist performer of the bunch, but too many little quirks hurt its overall appeal. Help is on the way in the form of an all-new 2007 Mini, which could turn the tide."
'If you plan to do an occasional track day, or some serious back-road bombing, the Mini Cooper S is the best choice. Though slightly twitchy, it's the most responsive of the three and therefore the most fun; the harder you drive it the better it works. It would be my choice, despite its "too-cute" looks and ergonomically disastrous interior.'
That's EXACTLY what I wanted in the car, in those two paragraphs. It's not to be had in the current generation.-

0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Top speed 165 mph.
Man, a bares bones one of these looks like a damned nice deal. They've done well.
I'd be hard pressed at that price to even look at the F56 JCW.-

AWD Turbo 3 door hatch that will blow the doors of any JCW, ( 310 hp, 320 lb-ft of torque) yup that car is a winner hands down. :ihih:
...the RS is free to pump out between 325 and 350 hp. The higher figure is more likely. This is because as a low-volume, niche product that doesn't compete with the Mustang GT, there's no reason to hold the Focus RS back.
Now lets see if it comes in CHILI RED!opcorn::fingerscrossed:

Civic Si, Golf GT, MCS, I'll have to find it, I think it was in Car and Driver. The most disappointing thing about it was that usually when the R53 or R56 gets "beaten" in a comparison, it's because of cabin noise, harsh ride, etc. The F56 took knocks for body roll, feeling somewhat like a pig in the corners, basically not being as fun. When MINI gets shoved out of the race because it's not enough of a drivers car, I foresee problems ahead....-

Ford won't bring the 3 door here. Just like they don't bring the 3 door Fiesta here.
The RS is going to have the 2.3 turbo from the new Mustang. So you know there will be tuning parts for it. If they offer the little dealer boost module like they do for the 2 liter hold on. That module for the 2 liter takes tq from 270 to 360. So you could see 400 on the 2.3 WITH a warranty.-

BMW did that a while ago. They dumb-ed down their cars to appeal to the masses. The 3 series is more like a fancy German Camry now. I see the same happening with their MINI brand.
So hang on to the cars you like folks, or shop elsewhere. I would have moved to a new MINI as my next car, but well that isn't going to happen now.-

Actually I think the price is justified considering the performance potential......I am still living in the 20th century and don't think any car should cost more than my first house.
