Just for reference, that picture is the old Focus RS.... Pedestrian impact safety could still enter into the new front end.... So to speak....

    Oh my...

This could get me out of a MINI, if it's done right, and priced reasonably well. That would be a beast on the track....

I've been waiting for this for years. I knew someone who owned a Ford dealership, and told them to put me on the short list if the RS ever came stateside. They've since gone out of business.:mad2:

What I'd like even better is a 300HP Fiesta RS, but the Focus would do nicely. Ford has already proven they can do it right, I have high hopes for this.

As Colin once said "simplify & add lightness". Car makers are now getting the lightness part, but not simplify, they are crazy complex machines now.

The other side of that is that they also tend to make the car bigger now that it is lighter :nonod:

It was more than one one of three reviewers that had that sentiment, but that's besides the point--the point it is that the reviewers saw a legitimate reason why many would prefer the R53 over the earlier GTI's and Civic Si. Now they don't.

I fear MINI may go the way of the Beetle--they're banking on "cute" now, instead of performance, and that works for awhile, but it puts the MINI dangerously close to a "fad" car, and fad cars eventually struggle--look at the Beetle now. Porsche did it right with the 911, although it's a great looking car, they always stressed performance, and it remains iconic. They're able to go generation to generation seamlessly; I fear MINI is stumbling. Maybe they'll fix it next generation, maybe they won't--if they don't, the long-term outlook for the MINI brand is not good IMHO.

Love the blue, that's my favorite...

Scott, that's why Ford didn't bring the first RS over--they figured people in the U.S. wouldn't pay that kind of money for a Focus. When it's all said and done, I'm guessing this car will be a bargain considering what Ford put into it, and what it's capable of. They're doing this for image, not for profit, and I'm guessing this car is going to be a huge bang for the buck.

I'm not sure that the current Focus ST even comes in 3 doors in Europe. I know the Fiesta ST does.

Based on getting a 3 door to the States I don't see replacing the Helmet coming anytime soon.

2016 Ford Focus RS Spy Shots

"While the last Focus RS came in three-door guise only, as shown in the spy shots the new Focus RS will come as a five-door, which makes sense since Ford doesn’t build a three-door version of its latest-generation Focus. The aggressive look of the previous model appears to have carried over for the front section, and this is joined by chunky side sills, a large rear spoiler and a rear bumper integrating dual-exhaust tips and a diffuser."
