The car is stunning. Mazda did to the Miata what Chevy did to the Corvette, it's that good. The video does more justice to the lines of the car than the still photos. I can't wait to see this in person, and if there is an easy, reliable way to get these to 275-300 WHP, a big if, and if it drives as well as it looks, it may be too tempting to pass on. It does have a little F-type going on, a little 370Z going on up front, and a nod to the old Z3 with the slightly raised rump in the rear, with some nice Alfa curves thrown in. The headlights give it a more muscular look compared to the older models. It all works.
I think the headlamps could be a little bigger... That has always been kind of a MX-5 trademark. And yeah no posts from MiataMark yet, he is probably changing his drawers!
Just got back from driving my Miata. Pretty sure I'm keeping my original. I like it, but why did they make it more bigger? Once again we see a car can be made good looking & still pass the pedestrian regs.
Lighter though too. Maybe up to 300lbs lighter. Bigger engine bay up front. Add those two together, and there are some serious possibilities for what that longer chassis may be able to do. Found only one thing I wish we're different: the exhaust. I have never been a fan of a twin side exhaust. Put dual tailpipes down the center or one on each side split, but not both together on the same side. Probably not too hard to fix though.
"Mazda shaved roughly 220 pounds off the outgoing model — an impressive feat given the existing car weighs only about 2,500 pounds. It also lost 3 inches in overall length and half an inch in width, a profile closer to the original model." LA Times reveal... I'm not a big fan of Mazda's latest grille shape and was hoping they would do something different here. Doesn't look so bad on the front of this one though, maybe it'll grow on me.
To my eyes the front looks good. At least it's no longer the joker from batman face. I really do not care for that screen sticking out of the dash. Looks bad on the Mazda 3 & looks worse here. Over all I think it looks much better than the outgoing car.
I like it a lot and the grill looks better then the old stupid smile they put on every last gen Mazda. I like that is lower wider and the lights front and rear look good to me. Just strip of the stupid sky activ badge and MX-5 badges on the rear.
