If I was going to buy one (in Silver) I would hold off for a supercharged or turbo one that will be coming down the road.

 

I really hope they go through with that. There was supposed to be an STi/GT version of my car, turbo'd with all wheel drive. Would have been a ROCKET. But that doesn't look to be happening. And I don't think it should happen...not until they get off their high horse and fix the existing problems for the current owners. But I've heard Mazda has a better customer service track record anyway. I'm just glad the design renderings and the actual product are very similar.

 

Would love to see a Mazdaspeed higher HP version but I'm not going to hold my breath as there is a new RX7-8 coming....

That said with a new Mazdaspeed 3 in the works, everything will be sorted with compressing the skyactive high compression motors... [emoji41]

 

The new MX5 is nice & I think an improvement over the old model. That being said there are a couple of things that I don't like. One is that gameboy display sticking up out of the dash & two is the black windshield frame. Easy to fix the color of the frame, but that gameboy is going to have to stay.

As far as power goes, for this old fart it will probably be plenty, I'm a momentum driver & while power is nice handling trumps all in my twisted world. I bet the balance of the new MX5 will be great out of the box.

The aftermarket will step in & add turbo kits along with superchargers. The Miata has healthy aftermarket support, given time all one could want will be there for the new MX5.

 

Please note that Mercedes-Benz is also putting "game boy" displays in their new cars, and in our new Mazda 3SGT it functions perfectly and with ease!! It also garners many a compliment from passengers...

 

I agree, but I worry that they may deviate that way with the new RX-7/8. Afterall, they're competing with the aforementioned cars.

I always thought the huge Speedo in the center of the dash on a Mini sucked, why I had and preferred the chrono package with a motorcycle like tach and Speedo sticking out of the steering column behind the steering wheel where they belong....different strokes for different folks...[emoji41]

 

My understanding is that it will be a new rotary. Mazda is also working hard on diesel, their whole Tudor race involvement this year is diesel and developmental... There is rumors of a high torque diesel option for the MX-5.

 

They are going to be dead needles when the ViPEC goes in too...

If there is one thing I can not stand, it would be fully automated digital readouts for instrumentation! To me its as bad as the digital dash on an old Chevy Beretta!

 

I am so glad that minimark got a Mazda, now I just wish he would stop trying to sell us all one.........

 

Excuse me, isn't this a Miata thread... I'm not on a Mini thread talking about them. That said, I loved my Mini and still like them, not the latest iteration as much but they are still cool cars!!

And yeah, I like my Mazdas too!!

PS: I think my Tahoe rocks too!!

If the RX8 had this... I'd buy it. Flywheel...

 

I dunno, but the extra size IMHO isn't that big of a deal; the weight reduction, however is a ginormous improvement.
