The Afla 4C Spyder is lighter....

    And faster.

    And nicer looking.

And more expensive. Well, there's that too.

2332 is the official weight Mazda has released for the US and the 2.0 motor.

There is a lighter version overseas with a smaller motor.

The U.S. Spyder is slightly heavier than the Miata, the European version, slightly lighter...

I would still choose the Mazda over the Alfa because of reliability and aftermarket parts availability and support.

The Alfa is more in a class with the Lotus Elise or even the Exiege. I have yet to see one in person, but hopefully they will be back at our Cars & Coffee get together next month, because I really want to look one over. :)

    Yeah ok. :nonod:

That's like saying a Chrysler 300 is a BMW because the TV commercial says so.

I hope to like the looks once it is released. But until Mazda gives us a bit more HP, the others in this category (Honda, Ford(?), Scion/Subaru, Nissan) are closer to the top of my list.

I once had a car I didn't want. I was working overseas for a few months when our Audi 5000 died. The repair, at a shop, was more than the car was worth and my wife needed a car with an automatic transmission. A good friend used to buy cars fix them up and sell them for a little extra cash. We got one from him, a Plymouth Reliance, 'cause that's what he had. It wasn't a bad car, it was just boring.

I've seen 2 different specs for the 2016 Miata MPG.. 24 & 32 and then 27 & 36 and the 2015 model claims 21-28 so the new one is a decent jump in MPG but I'd have thought that it would be getting even better MPG with the new engine ( less HP ) and lighter weight. Heck my '06 Just-a Cabrio is was listed at 24 & 33 and weighs roughly 2800+ pounds and is 10 years older technology.. I had never paid attention to the Miata's MPG specs before but I find the 2015 models to be shocking low compared to other cars...

Fiat or Alfa looks to be making a higher hp version on their side of the shared Miata platform, probably popping the same engine that's in the Alfa 4c. Interesting....

Price supposedly includes everything but the seat. A turn-key race car; you plunk down your $53K (introductory price), bolt in your preferred seat and go racing.
