Yes Honda lost some engines at Indy & darn it one of them had to be Alonso's. He sure showed what a great driver he truly is. I always thought he was good, but now there is no doubt in my mind. I bet he is not looking forward to get back in his McHonda.

Sato won the Indy 500 with one of those carp Honda engines. Honda will be strong in the next races, they are a short sprint format where reliability won't be as important.

 

A good one, nice to see no Merc on the podium.

 

Yep, Ricky racer did a good job echoing Vettel's move - get into clean air and run the tires off the car, then jump a couple of places in the pits. Well done, Riccardo!

I don't know what Ferrari could have done to ensure Kimi the win, some said the timing of his stop put him into traffic, but how else could they have done it? The traffic would have still been there no matter which lap he was on.....the reason it worked for Vettel was he ran those banzai laps and made a gap.

Riccardo did the same thing......

 

One observation is that Kimi had caught up to traffic in front of him before he pitted, allowing Vettel to close the little gap there was and keep Kimi from trying to lay down some great laps himself before pitting. If Kimi was to pit first, they should have done it before he caught the traffic...

Either way, Monaco seems to favour being the second car to pit not the first like most circuits... Know it was tough for Kimi, he was my sentimental favorite to win...

Both Vettel & Ricciardo turned a couple of very fast laps on worn tires just before their stops. That helped both of them jump their teammates. It was nice seeing a different podium. We are seeing real racing this year & I'm loving it.

 

Honda engines just don't like Alonso.:cryin:

 

I'd like to see Alonso run the whole Indy Car season. Bet he'd do extremely well.

 

I'm going to echo Hamilton's sentiments. For Alonso to go into Indianapolis on his very first race, qualify 5th and lead a good portion of the race with the potential to win if not for the unfortunate Honda motor curse on him, it says something about the caliber of driver Alonso and other F1 drivers in comparison to seasoned Indy car veterans.

Alonso would do very well, but I think he would want to be pushed a bit also.

 

The depth of talent in F1 is really something. That being said until they strap in & lap Indy at 230 MPH or so it is just talk. I'll listen to what Alonso says he has proved what a great driver he truly is. Lewis is just blowing smoke until he can show how good he is. Yes he is a great F1 driver for sure, but could it be he is a little bit jealous of all the richly deserved accolades Alonso has received?

 

Those curbs in Montreal smooth right out at 170mph.

 

Looks like the race has been preempted by America's cup coverage. My DVR has set its self for 8:00 pm. No spoilers please.....
