Interesting, but not unusual.......it's rare to have an F1 race where the leader gets challenged any more - once the leader gets into clean air, he's gone. Then all he has to do is maintain the gap, been this way for decades now.......

No clean air is an issue for sure. The aero these cars have is amazing. Although the racing suffers as a result of it. Then you have Hamilton, Vettle or Max come from the back & pass most of the field. They don't seem to have problems with other cars aero wash?

Dave - Could it be the adrenaline they have coming from the back gives them that extra boost of ability?

 

You know, you'd think it would make sense to go racing for a $68 m payout (Haas share) but if it costs $250M to field your team for the season, and you never have even a shot at winning a race......why exactly are you racing?

No such thing as "gentlemen" racers or race teams anymore, so no racing for the glory or the sport.

.....and Ferrari gets $90M just for showing up.......

These numbers are staggering.

 

And yet they aren’t dominating.

It’s like they aren’t at all good at their job. I mean, I bet anyone else with that cash would actually use it to win championships.

Maybe it’s the gelato fund?

 

During the Sky F1 pre race last week, Martin Brundle suggested that Ferrari should just go ahead and leave if they don’t like the new engine regs. I was pretty surprised that he was so blunt about it.

Then they had Toto Wolff on to discuss the proposed new specs without he MGU-H and Wolff was also pretty aggressively against the simpler engines.

They know they have a winning formula and don’t want new engine manufacturers entering the sport.

I feel like the teams don’t care about the sport anymore. I’d kind of like to see works teams go away, to be honest.

 

It wasn't all that long ago that Williams was the top dog for a number of years. I for one would love to see them back on the top step.
