    I've seen some that have been very entertaining. Yesterday's wasn't one of them. Compared to last year this year was much better with 5 different winners from 3 teams.

    I know those are a safety device, but they are so darned ugly. Will we have a bunch of cross eyed F1 driver's?

    I know I'm in a minority so small it's virtually nonexistent, but I don't think it's ugly...at all! That is, until they started adding aero bits.

    On the other hand, I'm also in the minority that says just enclose the cockpit and get it over with, so I'm clearly on the fringe.

    I'm curious to see whether teams will work them in as part of the livery or leave them black so they'll be less noticeable.

    From Kubica's test today (I think it was today). They modified the right side of the cockpit opening somewhat so he could use his right hand/arm more comfortably.

    It's official, Sauber gets Alfa sponsorship for 2018.

    I phrase it that way because others are saying things like "Alfa Romeo is returning to F1!" which, while technically accurate (sort of), is also quite a bit of overstatement at this point. It's a branding exercise that may allow Ferrari extra votes/clout on rules decisions depending on how much money is involved, etc. Likely to also cause a livery adjustment of some sort. Other changes are uncertain at this time.

    It seems like Alfa Sauber will be Ferrari’s Toro Rosso.

    Those cutouts are in the padded hoop that surrounds the cockpit, all the drivers have custom ones, some bigger some smaller. Why Kubica’s is bigger on the right, I don’t know. Maybe to make room for his Fitbit?

    We've known all along that the change in ownership that led to Ferrari engines for Sauber meant they would be the Ferrari junior team.....I expect to see their upcoming drivers behind the wheel too, just like Red Bull does with Toro Rosso.

    However, I'm really interested to see how TR does with the Honda engines, if they get their stuff together and start turning up the HP, it could be real interesting between them and Red Bull....especially if Renault delivers slightly less spec in their engines to Red Bull.

    It's said that Renault have a LOT more HP available in their engine design, but at the expense of reliability....so if they can get that under control there could be a pretty good fight at the front again....at least for pole. But with the current aero rules, the guy in front seem to have an unbeatable advantage once the flag drops if he can successfully stay in front thru the first lap.....

    Cosworth builds Singer's engines. Williams is involved to perform "performance and weight saving services" on that engine - My Mini needs that treatment, too.

    I haven't followed the Singer story closely so feel free to correct. I believe they use all new engines in their cars built by Cosworth but based on a modified (by Cosworth engineers?) 964 design.

    The "Williams engine" is a further redesign (I assume done in collaboration with Cosworth) of the same Cosworth redesign of the original 964 design, which is then built by Cosworth.
