Holy Crap. One and done? (or should I say, Won and done?) So weird. Especially considering how retiring is understandably such a heartfelt thing to drivers like Massa - and how Button can't even use the word. And, looking back, how other drivers like Michael and Kimi stepped out, then came back in. Who could have seen this coming? Wow. .
I agree. Didn't see that coming. At face value he said all the right things. Stay home with the family etc. Plus this way he doesn't have to put up with Hamilton's BS anymore. Up next Dancing with the stars Euro edition.
Wolff says they want to settle on a Rosberg replacement before the end of Dec. Lauda says he hopes it's before Christmas. Meanwhile, other teams have to be worried they might need to react even more quickly with even less time to find their own replacement if Merc poaches one of theirs. Sauber, for example, who are still looking for a teammate for Ericsson, have now put a hold on their talks with Wehrlein because he's in the running for the Merc seat. I don't expect a great domino effect but it's possible if they don't hire someone without a contract (like Wehrlein). It's a strange case of extended silly season.
Vacancy notice. I thought it was just a joke but...well, it is, but a joke BY Mercedes who apparently posted it to Autosport classified pages. I wonder what "life assurance" is...
Who here is ready to apply? I'm holding out for Ferrari or Red Bull. I don't want to deal with Hammy.
I think you're selling yourself short. The press conferences with you and the Hamster alone would be worth the price of admission.
Hmmm, I wonder...could there be a backroom deal being brokered to trade Bottas for Lowe? Williams have reportedly been worried they might lose Bottas to Merc and there has been interweb postulation that Merc might sweeten Williams' engine deal to get Bottas out of his contract. Nah, too far fetched.

I've been reading about all the different permutations. The only thing clear is that unless Merc pick someone still unsigned at least one team gets screwed and there's no way to know how many dominoes will fall. Given I'd like to see things shaken up a bit I've decided I'd rather Merc NOT successfully sign a top driver. Sure, if Merc remain dominant this would make things even more boring in 2017 because F1 would be The Hamilton Show but if it was up to me I'd take that chance. In fact, I'd like to see them call 2017 a transition year and pick an interim driver. I know, won't happen, so while I'm dreaming I'll take it a step further and require them to pick from outside current F1 ranks. They can hire a former driver if they like. I vote for Kobiashi. I understand he already answered their help wanted ad.
I agree I'd like Benz hire a young gun new driver. He would learn his F1 craft in a top team & that's pretty cool. Lewis' brother?
