Yes quite enjoyable. Wonder if fists were thrown in the Force India garage.

I disagree, if you want by - pass him and quit whinging about it. Vettel did......

Anybody think Alonso will be in a Renault soon - maybe by September? Or an Indy car?

I'm also not sure about it being a good race - sure there were good parts back in the field - but the leader went off and hid from the rest of the group from the getgo. And that's pretty much been F1 for decades now.....

If Alonso wants to win it isn't going to be a Renault. I'd love to see him in an Indy car for the whole season.

Since Alonso watched the Texas crash-fest I wonder if his opinion has changed on Indy cars. They were very lucky in Texas to not have severely hurt someone. That is a track that should not host an Indy car race. Have they learned nothing from that terrible & tragic Vegas race??

Remember they year they had to cancel a CART race at Texas cause the drivers were passing out from the G-Forces?

I think Alonso is exactly what Renault needs, and he needs Renault.....they have a far better chance of a win this season than big Mac. They are throwing the money at the team, they can afford him, and they have a lame duck driver they already want to replace in Palmer.

Hulk has finished 11, 12, 9, 8, 6, DNF in Monaco, and 8th in Canada - that's a pretty positive march to the front in just their first season back as a constructor, using their own chassis.

By next season they could be right at the front of the grid, someplace McLaren will not be.

Of course, if he does this and McLaren goes back to Mercedes engines, it could be deja vu all over again! :biggrin5:

Yes sure do remember those Cart cars at Texas. The track had much more banking then. Driver's graying out was crazy. Glad that one got canceled. Indy cars stayed off that track for a long time. Until the track was rebuilt with less banking lowering the G's a driver took.

Yes Renault is making progress, but they still are a slow car. Faster than some, but slower than they need to be. Big Mac is done stick a fork in them. Even if they get a Benz lump it will take time for them to get to the front. Alonso has to see his career coming to a close & wants to close it out in a winning way. Justa my .02.

Damnit, I don't want to write off Honda in F1, I want them to get their *!#^ together. And it's not because of Alonso, I just want them to find the magic and add another spin to the formula. Don't really care if it's this year or next after Alonso has flown the coop and they're supplying Sauber.

I too would love to see another team find the right stuff & run up front. I'm amazed that Honda seems so lost with all their knowledge & tech. It's beyond strange.

More engine suppliers not less would make for better racing. I also have a hard time undestanding the lack of success Honda is having in F1.

After watching so many of their engines blow up in the 500...

I mean granted the 500 is a stressful race, and that happens, but from where I'm sitting all I see are Honda engines dying left and right and I gotta wonder what's going on.

McLaren shouldn't wait to dump them. Honda has pretty much killed the team, hopefully not forever.

so, what will Alonso do now, I wonder?

Will that be enough to keep him onboard the McLaren for one more season?

And what will they do about the $90 mill deficit?

Gotta love Vettel's confidence in the video Steve posted - "one more"

I feel bad for Honda, but McLaren had to do something. I hope this change is an easy one that they can adapt to & have them running towards the front once again.

I think Alonso will make a move, but one never knows.

If he leaves and the McLaren is competitive with the Mercedes engine, it will be just like when he left Ferrari!

IF that article is correct - not confirmed by either Honda or McLaren as far as I know - what will Honda do? Will they stay in and consider Sauber a works team? Will RB roll the dice and take over for McLaren? Will Honda just drop out?

Honda's reputation is in the dumpster regardless. They took one of the top running teams and turned them into a back marker for three years running.

If they stay in, I'd rather they enter as a works team. It's they only way they could rebuild their prestige at this point. No one else will have them.
