Bernie needs to spring it on them after quali. Do it at random races, oh how much fun that would be.
NASCAR did that in the Winston all star race so everyone tried to run in the middle.... The fans would vote to reverse or not... Read: Boring.
Now being reported as a done deal in Brazil. http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2016/12/20/massa-signs-deal-return-williams-opening-door-bottas-join-mercedes/
Randomly reversing the qualifying field just screams bush league. Might as well just pick a number out of a hat for the starting grid and not even have qualifying as there is no reward for excellence.
Apparently it has been confirmed by many sources that Massa has accepted an offer and will return to Williams for next season... Really don't need tea leaves to assume who Lewis's team mate will be next season...
The team cars should be chained together. One car gets the steering wheel & the other the gas peddle. The team controls the brakes.
If Massa drove in the last race in 2016 and then drives in the first race of 2017, that's not really a retirement is it? I wonder whether he has to give back the car Williams gave him as a retirement gift.
Bet he gets to keep it. They hired him back, it's not like he came out of a short retirement to drive for a rival team. Maybe the car is his payment for the year.
Talk of promoting rivalries "We need to build the rivalries..." smacks of Bernie-speak (or a Jerry Springer wannabe) and turns me right off. But given the sort of manufactured drama entertainment popular these days it might (unfortunately) work if they're looking to pull in new and younger audiences. The longer "week full of events" thing is also a bit confusing since I read a similarly speculative article just a week or so ago claiming they were considering shortening race weekends to two days, just Sat and Sun, with no practice on Fri and two races each weekend.
Bernie is quoted as saying "there are too many Italians at Ferrari". He'll have made a LOT of enemies in Italy with that remark.
