broken exhaust header heatshield...aka "exhaust thermal insulator". Apparently, the part needs to be ordered from Germany.
New to the forum, new to minis, BUT not new to cars. Drove to work and at lunch looked to see that I got flanked on both sides from other minis. Seems like there is some kind of rule that says "park next to the Mini"
Actually, I might go to a scrap yard not too far from my place and see if anybody wrecked a R53 MINI of late.
There are a few places in the US showing it new for around $40-$45 USD and say it will ship in a day or two. Not sure how much shipping to Canada would be, or how that price compares to what you've found.
$45 USD works out to about $60CDN. The MINI part from the dealership is $67cdn. So the part really isn't all that outrageously priced in Canada. But my car has given me 15 years and a lot of miles of service. If I can get a good condition part from an auto wrecker for $10 or so, I think that might suffice.
Took the little guy out to dinner on Galveston Island rhis evening. A little better view than the last one
Nothing there. But there is a gas station with 248 pumps, 20 of them have 91 octane ethonol free gas. (and 65,000 sg ft of reatil space) so I think he got treated rather well even if it was not a ribeye ateak.
Took my car out for a long run today and parked it outside for a few days. I have this little rocket in the garage or paint correction, chip repair, and full ceramic coating.
I don’t drive the cars I detail, but I have been out for a ride in this one at the Dragon and it’s awesome. How does it look in person? From the front and sides and inside it looks great. Now It is Butt ugly from the back but from the inside you can see everything behind you and it’s a rocket ship.
The R is a lot of car performance wise. This old fart thinks it is one of the ugliest things out there. But when you are sitting inside holding the wheel & working the peddles carving a twisty back road all that outside stuff would be forgiven.
