This wouldn't help the lower jaw jut, but I'm wondering if this sort of treatment would help mitigate the fish-mouth effect.

I see a lot of new front better designed fascias being sold by the after market.

I am hoping the car wins me over in person it is hard to tell from photos.
I think the front grill is big and bulky and the lower grill is not flattering. But maybe this will bring down under hood temps on the turbo model. From a front/side view the front looks abruptly cut off. I would miss the gas filler being on the driver side. I am not sure I like the large tail lights. N2MINI MINI of the Month
Like to hear what the purpose is of the "black bar" across the front. A few other cars have done that as well.. Why not just make it body color, or part of the grille so it doesn't stand out so much. Like someone mentioned maybe it won't look as bad on a black car.. Not sure about all BMW's but the 1 series my wife has the gas door is on the right side!! For those that said they could never drive a car with the gas cap over there..
