Car & Driver is reporting that the center speedo for the next generation MINI (F56) will lose the center speedo. There will still be a large circular display in the center of the dash. Speculation as to what it will contain besides a nav system is inconclusive. Click here for the full article and then come back to leave comments.
+1. The circular center display, sticking out of the dash like a goiter, seems rather pointless in the absence of the traditional instrumentation (maybe it'd be better with the Nav display). C&D even hints that the gawd-awful steering wheel might survive. And what's with that giant fuselage of a steering column? :frown2:
Column mounted speedo shown, with crescent shaped tachometer sticking out on the left side, leaving the center dash to the Navi/Infotainment screen (or radio head unit in the base version as shown). Typical BMW over-engineering. It is just not in their nature to keep it simple. However, I will still probably get an F56 someday regardless. In Chili Red please
that stg wheel is butt ugly in BMW models and takes the MINI brand one step lower with the idiotic 3 cyl peugot engines-In addition to a clubvan for the shop I am gonna need a coupe for myself before the 4 cyls become extinct
