Oh no.......OR has a rather large ethanol subsidy so all we can get is E10 (other than a few independent stations that have E-free gas, but no premium...:frown5
Really. I thought all Chevron was e-Free. There are no Cheveron stations anywhere near me, as E-10 would be nice. :frown5: Jim
$4.19/gallon for premium here. There is a new racetrack nearby, they say they will have ethanol free premium available soon. I don't know how much it will cost though. Dave
Soooo, am I remembering this correctly? In the good old days gasoline didn't have ethanol.... Then the shortage, then the politicians, then the oil companies got together... Well now see we gotta add ethanol to the gas see.... and ethanol/gal is more expensive than gasoline/gal, so the price goes up..... (lots of hand rubbin going on by the above characters)... So now the price of "pure" unadulterated gasoline is gonna go up when they pull the ethanol out (lots of hand rubbin going on by the above characters)...? Whaaaat???
It is ALREADY ON THESE Shores... It is made on this side of the pond from what I have heard. :frown2:
Ethanol acts as an oxygenator, it helps reduce smog. They used to use MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether) as an oxygenator, but it is very toxic and was causing health issues and contaminating ground water. Ethanol is about 35% oxygen, it doesn't need to be added to gasoline in the high concentration it is today to be an effective oxygenator. It is the corn lobby that is pushing to increase the percent of ethanol in gasoline. Dave
I call it F Ethanol because all it does I F things up. I run Sunco 93 or Sunoco Race fuel with lots of VP M1 Meth. Take that you corncob love'in lobbyist and politicians.
It's not. The most there can be in US fuels dispensed as gasoline is 10%. One can buy E-85 but it must be a Flex Fuel vehicle. The pump is different looking and has this plastered on it. In the US there is no E-20 at this time. For more on E-15 click me
We as a nation here in the US have no collective memory. Gas prices drop some and we run out to buy trucks and SUV's. Gas prices go up and we go buy small cars. What we need is flat cost for gas. Say $5.00 gal for regular. To get there set the Fed Gas tax to be flexible, when the spot market drops, the tax increases to keep the cost level. Why... Our roads and bridges are suffering. There has not been an increase in the Federal Gas Tax in something like 20 years. This money is earmarked to fund highway maint and construction. The Highway Fund cannot begin to keep up with revenues needed to keep up with maint, much less build new. We need to take a fresh look at how we are going to maintain what we have now along with build for the future. The problem is that it would political suicide to propose a Gas Tax increase. None of these career politicians can do this, they will get voted out and then have to work for a living. Sure, a tax like I mention is regressive but we need to do something and this is my idea.
Didn't President Zero say basically the same thing awhile back? ...and does that mean that if the real cost per gallon went up to, or over $5.00 a gallon the Government (the taxpayers) would then subsidize themselves so that it would still be 5 bucks a gallon at the pump?
You realize what $5.00 a gallon would do to other things. Food and anything else that had to be transported would go up in cost. Farmers and even the folks who mow lawns would raise their price. Fewer folks would travel, so the tourist industry would suffer, not to mention fewer MINIs at MOTD. It might not be worth the while for Way or Chad to attend any longer. Jim
I have always heard (not confirmed) that gas is actually cheaper here in Ontario but it's the taxes that make it so pricey. I do fill up in the Michigan if I happen to be there but I never go over just for gas as many people do. I figure I use the roads around here I may as well support them.
