Hey guys, so I wanted to share this to all the folks of M/A. I am trying their winter days at Laguna Seca at very recession friendly prices and of course the $49 Buttonwillow Day. 2009 has been a very interesting and successful year for Northern California Racing Club (NCRC). While our quality low cost events have been very well received by drivers, we can't say the same for some other parts of the industry. We’ve seen negative comments, pressure to raise our entry fees, and a general aversion to the principle of free market. We knew that our pricing was going to ruffle some feathers, but we were hoping that most would have understood the long term benefit to the sport of making events much more affordable. Bringing new drivers and enabling drivers to participate more often far outweighed any need to improve and adapt in order to stay competitive. To kick off our Southern California 2010 series and get some buzz going, we’re offering this fantastic deal. On March 22, we’re offering the day for**$49 **for anyone that hasn't attended an NCRC event before. The cost $99 for prior NCRC drivers, as this is an effort to get the word out to new Southern Cal drivers. As with all our events, this day will include five 20-25 minute sessions for open track, or a qualifying, practice and two race sessions for the racers. 2010 Schedule Feb 1 Monday, Laguna Seca Feb 25 Thursday, Laguna Seca *March 22 Monday, Buttonwillow April 5 Monday, Buttonwillow April 30 Friday, Thunderhill May 10 Monday, Buttonwillow June 5 Sat, Buttonwillow June 6 Sun, Buttonwillow June 25 Friday, Thunderhill Sept 3 Friday, Thunderhill Sept 17 Friday, Buttonwillow Oct 1 Friday, Buttonwillow Oct 22 Friday, Thunderhill Nov 20 Sat, Buttonwillow Nov 21 Sun, Buttonwillow *$49 Buttonwillow "Get to Know NCRC" Day Dave & Luc Northern California Racing Club/American Racing Club
Great price. Too bad it's a Monday before AMVIV. But I am eyeballing some of those weekend Buttonwilliow days.
Yeah that $49 Buttonwillow day is just the wrong time for MINI's headed for AMVIV, but the other days even at $99 would work. Does that include timing devices? Too bad no Willow Springs dates but this is a NorCal based group.
Craig, it looks like pricing for the other events varies. E.g., the Laguna Seca events are about $180 I think. Still, seems like a good deal, and well organized. My only concern would be that no instructors are allowed in convertibles, so no way to get 1-on-1 instruction, or advance to the next run group in a ragtop. Guess someone else's car could be borrowed? Of course, my interest is only hypothetical at this point anyway... Just bought a new house, and will be eating PB&Js, Kraft Dinner, and ramen for quite a while! _Dave_
Yup, but all others times are only $99 at Buttonwillow. Laguna Seca $159-$179 Infineon $179 Thunderhill $125 And it is Five 25 minutes sessions, except Laguna. You can bring passenger too if they are "instructing" you. Yeah lotta tracks, clubs, sanctioning bodies are shutting the door on convertibles w/o full cages.:frown5: For TT, NCRC uses an AMB timing device for more efficient scoring, and has transponders available to rent at the track. Hopefully some Willow Springs dates in the future. Website: Northern California Racing Club/American Racing Club
An event the week before my spring break, and an event the week after... drat! Those dates in June are looking a little tempting though.. Do people offer couches to crash on to keep the out-of-state costs down? :wink5:
