Would someone please mount one of these in the R56 secret compartment over the dash?

 

In the hardtops, the wire that would plug into the optional CD changer, was taped just inside tge right rear trunk access panel/storage area by the rear taillight... Not sure about the cabrio...I seem to remember something about under the seat.
CD changers can be bought cheap used...a mp3 cd, or using a aux in jack and a phone can hold more...even using lossless compression if you wish so you can get cd quality or better music...

 

"Preparation" means that if you bought a CD changer, you can just plug it in. Without preparation, you would also have to install the wiring harness.

You have the wiring in place, not the unit.

That is why it is listed as Preparation.

 

Wow, I forgot CD changers still existed. There is a Bentley manual for a Conestoga Wagon that has pretty good "how-to" for installing one, if you need it.

My MINI has smoke signal capability--now THAT's technology!

 

I used that CD connection in the boot to hook a Blitzsafe adapter in so I can run my XM Direct through the radio. Works like a charm.

 

What's a CD?

 

A CD is a higher quality audio source.

Although depending on how loud your exhaust is it might not matter.

 

I prefer vinyl. Anyway to get a 6-record changer back there?

 

The Crosley CR85 Collegiate Stack-o-Matic Turntable plays 6 records in sequential order. I'm sure you can fit one in the boot of MINI.

 

I prefer phosphor/bronze, but I have to sit in the passenger seat or the tuning pegs scratch the window tint...

There were two versions of the blitz safe....one let you have it with a CD changer... One was in its place....
Has been a great, simple way to get XM to my stock radio, no modulator, with full factory controls!!

 

If anyone is looking I saw one of those setups for sale on the sewing site. Best way to get Sirius XM into your R50-R53 MINI.
