Calling all auto owners The R53ers have the procedure pretty much nailed down. No, there is NO such thing as lifetime fluid. Yes, you HAVE to change it sooner or later. We need your help with writing up a DIY for the 2007+ Mini owners. We need to identify if the Base Mini/Clubman/Countryman and their S counterparts share the same 6-speed Aisin-Warner Transmission. The R53 uses the TF60-SN and it SEEMS so do all the new models that use the 6-speed auto but we need to confirm. Here is the relevant thread in the R53 section, along with a DIY I wrote up and attached as a PDF. http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/cooper-s-engine-drivetrain/12459-02-06-mcs-6-speed-automatic-transmissions.html Thank you and let's keep up on maintenance for happy motoring!
Can someone help me out with the R's? I'm ashamed to admit I only know the 2007+ is the R56 What about the 2007+ base Mini, Clubman /S and Countryman /S? RealOEM.com and a parts guy are coming through, here is what I have found out so far. Some Mini S use the TF-60SN and others use the TF61SN from 2005 to 2012 The clubman / coupe / Mini could also have the TF70SC from 2011-2012 The Countryman from 2011-2012 has the TF61-SN and in 2012 the TF61SN or the TF70SC So! Time to look up how the TF61 and TF70 are different and what impact that has on the DIY.
Here is the guide. I will be checking in here and letting you all know when I post an updated version.
There is a much easier way to do this.https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/r56-hatch-talk-2007/332172-best-easiest-way-to-check-flush-refill-mini-cooper-aisin-automatic-transmission-fluid.html No squirting fluid and you can fill with the motor running.
Welcome to M/A! The article to which you are referring was written 4 years ago. However, that said, a BIG THANKS for your update! On the downside, though, does this remedy solve the problems with the R53 automatics? I have 2 of them as well as an R50.
