Swap "dealer" for "local micro-brewery" and now you're talking.

    New supercharger belt is on.

Can't tell if the idle squeak is gone, but my new supercharger belt (same part number as before the Napa 060535 belt for my 15% pulley) slips and squeals any time i get on it. Stupid shop. They blamed it on my tensioner assembly even though everything was fine this morning.

    LAME.

Quoting myself here....misaligned pulley? But does that cause slip or just squeal?

I'm not an expert Andrew, but I believe it could cause both.

And you only have a single belt.........not sure what you mean by drive belt.

If the tensioner is going bad it can cause the belt to squeal as it can't keep the belt tight to the pulley and the tensioner pulley can also squeal if it's going bad.

    Chuck....
Maybe check with some of the other MOM members that want some of the OEM trans fluid, buy the big container, and divvy it out to those that want to get in on the buy.

Oh I'm an idiot, I thought there was another accessory belt.

Any quick easy way to visually see if my belt is maligned? I did not have any tensioner problems or belt slip this morning.

That is not a bad idea. The only fly in ointment is, I believe I am the only one among us who has an old fashioned LSD in his tranny. LSD's use a different fluid that the other tranny's do.

Just pop the hood and take a look with a flashlight. You'll be able to see most of the pulleys on the passenger side of the engine.

Well another factor is that a DT tensioner strap was installed along with the belt and the installer likely screwed up. This could be the issue.

Found this post in another thread:

I'll give it a try soon. Mine definitely has the "U" shape with ends pointing into the U.

Fixed the tensioner strap install, no more slipping belt. Thank goodness.

No more idle squeak either with the new supercharger belt.

Shop i went to failed on many counts, won't be going back.

Did not change tranny fluid but I may do it soon.

Lots of stuff done to the car lately and I can't wait to finish. And boy do i need to wash the car.

I feel like its way too thin for our trannys I have slight gear grinds because of it occasionally the Toyota oil i was suggesting is Enos i believe. I still disagree with Ralph about Not changing the tranny oil, but then again i grew up with 60s Chevys where fluid changes and valve jobs were the norm.
I suppose i err on the side of caution. but its completely up to you. Oh and the Redline is thin enough to leak through my axle seals. Sooo. ill be changing those and get back to you guys.

    What a timely reply MM/Chuck.

I have been on a search for some transmission oil for my MINI. What I've come up against is the fact that mine has a mechanical LSD. The only fluid that I have found that is compatible is Texico MTF 94. It is what BMW/MINI spec's & I can not find it. Maybe I can trade Sam some beer for some Texico.

Putting in something else worries me. I do not want to toast the slip of bork the gears & syncro's.

Thanks Colin, I too suck at using confuser search functions.

I'm too fearful of carping up my MINIs tranny. Looks like it's a trip to see my friend at the dealer.

Clutch and mechanical(torsen?) LSD's usually don't have the same oil requirements.

True, the wrong stuff can kill the clutches.
