The 6th Annual MINIs In The Mountains will again be held in Winter Park Colorado on Thursday August 4th thru Sunday August 7, 2011. Reserve your vacation time now and watch for more details to come.
Winter Park... Winter Park... UGH! Nice place and all but it's a long F'n way from Pasadena Ca. I wish it was back in Copper Mtn. or some other place in Co. :cryin:
We stayed at Winter Park and did the combo MTTS/MITM last year. Nice location, very relaxing. But driving to/from Denver for the MTTS events took away from the MITM events. Plus, we 'just' missed the drive into town when we got there. Not sure if we'll do it in 2011 but we will do it again!
Loved the MITM this summer, what little I got to see...like others, we combined MTTS, but stayed in Denver. The drive to WP was a hoot, and there are numerous enticing mountain drives nearby to keep everyone's attention...glad to see it back and not in competition with MTTS this year. Hope we can return from PA again in '11, maybe via I-80 or I-40 (instead of I-70 again...lol) pac:cornut:
2010 was a unique situation with MTTS being a bit player in the MITM event as a whole. For 2011 with MITM as a standalone event I think we will see a bit more cohesiveness. Having been to MITM at both Copper Mtn and Winter Park I think that Winter Park is a much better place. At Copper I felt we were just part of the woodwork while at Winter Park it felt as if the resort and town embraced us and got into the spirit of things as well.
Nathan your are right on the button. The city of WP and the Resort of WP went all out to support our event and embraced the addition of MTTS. It will be different this next year, more planned rides, better co-ordination of resort and city event, etc. etc.... I do hope all come back in 2011, I hope to be back from Norway so I can attend. Don - 2010 MITM Planning and selection team. Come back, we want to see all your great MINIs and Minis.
While I believe MTTS was an overall add to MITM, it did make our scheduling and coordination efforts more difficult. I know we gained in attendance due to the proximity of MTTS, but our event did admittedly suffer in cohesiveness. The loss of one full day, the twisting of the plans around MTTS schedules and the dilution of activities due to concurrency was the downside. That said, 2011 will be all MITM and we will be able to focus once again.
Glad to hear MITM will be back to normal! We came for MITM this past year & not really for MTTS. As a result we were a little disappointed with the state of affairs especially on Saturday. Ended up doing a great ride by ourselves on the Poudre Canyon Hwy. It was beautiful. Also, Winter Park was great. The Vintage Hotel was the best doggie friendly hotel we have ever been in. Heres to a great MITM in 2011:cornut:
6th Annual MITM Update As most of you know by now we have set the dates and location for the 6th annual MITM. We have again selected Winter Park, Colorado as our venue and have bumped the event up one week from last year to minimize school conflicts. Join us at the Winter Park Resort on August 4th through August 7th, 2011. We plan to set-up on Wednesday August 3rd from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM followed by our traditional, informal and totally social brew swap for those of you that can make it. Thursday August 4th at 9:00 AM the registration doors will swing open along with the vendor and car wash areas. Each day we are planning group drive opportunities around 10:00 AM for long routes and 2:00 PM for the shorter journeys. We also are working on our first auto-x event at MITM which will be a multi-day activity in one of the prettiest, freshly paved lots you have ever seen. We have planned another town parade and concert as well as our NUF! car show and a final event meal. We are pleased to report that Winter Park Resorts has held the room rates at last year's levels and has again provided our participants with deeply discounted group rates. So if you enjoyed last year there are even more reasons to enjoy this year. Oh and did I mention that we won't be in direct competition with MINI Takes The States? That's right, just us this time so no divided attention, split venues or conflicting activities. Finally I want to draw your attention to the fact we are holding a contest to create a logo for MITM 2011. Details can be found on our website at www.MINIsInTheMountains.com. You need to hurry as the deadline for entry is January 31st but the prize is worth the effort. The creator of the selected logo will receive 3 nights of free lodging during MITM (8/4 – 8/7). This 2-bedroom condo in Fraser Crossing or Founders Pointe is a $650 value. So look up the rules, put on your thinking caps and come up with a logo you would like to see on our badges, letterhead and t-shirts. We hope you choose to come out and motor with us in Winter Park, CO August 4 - 7, 2011 we enjoyed having you last year and we know it will be even more fun this year. Check out our website (www.MINIsInTheMountains.com) for all the skinny on activities, venue and lodging. Make your vacation plans soon and be sure to grab a room at your first opportunity.
Now as far as registration - We will open for business on April 1st and will close registration on July 22. By the way, that is July 22, not the 23rd because you were waiting for your sister's boyfriend's cat to die or even the 24th because you had to wait to cash a check until after you donated plasma and the 22nd was too close to your last donation so they wouldn't let you in or even, must I say, the 26th because you just bought a MINI in April and your BFF didn't tell you about MITM in time to register but she has the time off and you'd really like to come if we would just take a late registration just this once. July 22nd 20:42 MDT - that is the deadline (not 20:43 because you thought it would be cool to be the very last one to register). Plan accordingly.
We will be there again, with the Mini-Poopers.... My son is coming with his family and talking about bringing several MINI enthusiasts with him from the Phoenix area too. Looking forward to it!
Our MITM documentary is finished and available for viewing on Youtube at: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8nIU8fVxq0"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8nIU8fVxq0[/ame]
Mark your calendars for April 1st (yes we know it is April Fools Day) as that is the day MITM 2011 registration begins. www.MINIsInTheMountains.com
Awesome! Thanks for letting us know about the registration page opening up on baseball's opening day. I may have to delay heading to the Rockies games to sign up...
So Chuck whadda ya tryin to say? :cornut: Already have hotel reservations for Winter Park. Look forward to seeing you and the Denver clan again
Great Tim. I hope you will again enter the NUF! car show. I promise it won't be the concours judging of last year. Look for more lead rides, an auto-x, less wind and fewer flying tents.
