:cornut: We haven't had rural interstate speeds that slow(65mph) since the Nixon 55mph long gas line event. 80mph on IH10 to El Paso and now 85mph on a new toll way North of Austin.

I generally drive 70-75 now & am passed by many folks going much faster. Guess I'll be able to notch it up to 75-80.

I usually set for 77 by the speedo anyway, which is about 73 according to the GPS. I'm not doing as many long distance trips as I used to either, so it's no biggie.

I think the 55 and 65 limits were very good to Ohio's financial well being, wonder what they'll replace that revenue with?

That's really great for the folks driving clear across the state. For the soccer mom on a 35 mile romp to the next village it makes for a decrease in time by 4 one hundredths of an hour or 2.4 minutes. Woopee.
I am forever more amazed by the drivers whose business is more important than anyone else's on the road, go speeding past on our 35 mile drive to 'the big city'. Did a little slide rule gymnastics one evening and a 10 mile an hour increase in speed, considering one 90 degree junction, 3 small towns to navigate and innumerable control lights, the time difference was 27 seconds. It's always fun to pull up beside those idiots at a stop light. -

My youngest son just got his first ticket. 82mph cost $145. I told him to keep it down to 73.
