I stopped by the shop on Saturday and was so out of it I would not have even have thought about touching my car let alone someone else's. Steve did seem to keep me away from the tools and the cars forming a shield between me and them with someone or something. It was great to feel the friendship and warmth that MidCal members bring and for that I extend a sincere thanks from all of us. Suzie got her parole today and with here 29 staples in her back on the top level of 4 layers of stitches made it home with follow ups during the next two weeks to get those 29 staples removed. With my mother-in-law flying in tomorrow after Suzie asked her as a retired nurse to assist with Samantha in School and myself back at work for an inspection it looks like things are tracking along. We plan on being at the MidCal meeting and will see everyone there. For those that took the time out of their day to stop by or to check up on us thanks for being there we needed you more then you will realize.

They say there are two types of drives when it comes to Mini's. Those that drive for the gas milage and never get into the driving experience. And those that really get into the driving and the car. These are easily found by the love for the car and for other drivers, they wave and form groups when they see another Mini in a parking lot. They are window lookers who always look at other cars to see what they have done. I think I was part of the first group when I got first used Mini, however thanks to being exposed to MidCal and the outstanding members we feel like our family has grown. I know that this thread is watched by other members of MA and for them I would hope that they would seek out that Mini owner that is not a member of the local club and bring them into the family.

Yeah, but Janet doesn't have half the online MINI community looking to get back at her. Jim's pissed off so many people online he's afraid they would find him in Vegas.

Chief..... There's a third MINI owner type you overlooked..... The one who enjoys owning and driving both, waves at everybody (regardless of how many fingers are displayed) and parks where-ever it'll fit...

Ok, my one gratuitous non-MINI post. How's this for a body kit?

I still have a lot of work on these to make where I like them. Clearance for hatch closer without rubbing, some real spacer not washers, fill in the decal preform so it is smooth, eliminate one of the adjusting holes and a different
height position. I am going to try to rise it more but still stay within the lines of its design. I think I can go about 1/2 more then someone already did with this set? I might grind off the center fin/spoiler and install my shark fin in its place to clean up the roof? What do you think?

Well, there is that. You are a brave man my friend, leaving your wife alone with the configurer while you are deployed, as the sheet she shows you might not be the one she gives the dealer.

Wow, that is cool story. Our stories are actually similar, guarded hanger and all, except I wandered in by mistake during the guard change, I knew what it was (from old pictures before it went TS) and I did sit in the seat. Of course when you came out you were not tossed to the ground, hand cuffed and haled off to a windowless building, to be questioned by OSI for four hours. I like your version better.

I have pretty much reached the conclusion that my options are few and driving the truck and trailer is about as inexpensive and the most controllable option that I have. Me driving a truck and pulling a trailer with "The Dad" as passenger is going to be quite the story, I can guarantee it. Yelling is bound to be involved.

Steve you will have another baby to take care of. This one will only be driven in town and mostly by "The Dad" and for local MINI/Mini events. The Mini is fun to drive (right hand side) but was rather a challenge when I got to the toll booth on the 73; but putting mail in the curbside boxes is going to be great!

Yeah, I thought of that too but LA is really weird about what they will and will not rent you. Seemed logical to me but they would not allow it. I can just see us get pulled over and get the third degree as to why we are driving an empty truck. Good thing we are headed North and not South. Going South they would think for sure that we were headed to Mexico to pick up a "load" using the Mini as a cover. :yikes:
