Got the word today that my original 2004 Indy Blue which was pictured above #920 as a bumper ornament for a Dodge Truck was totaled. The appraisal called for the engine to be replaced at a cost of 4265 plus 20 hours of labor. In addition to all the items such as the hood etc. Now my daughter who purchased my car from me is looking at her mom's car as her next purchase. So now Suzie is looking at a replacement for her Cabrio when Kat comes back out here next month for school.
Last night my daughter pulled out a little red box, worn from being carried around and asked if I remembered the box. I did not until she opened it up and inside was a MINI key chain that I had purchased for her overseas on my last ship board deployment almost three years ago. The plastic inside was breaking down from age but the key chain was in perfect condition. She looks back at the key chain and then starts crying telling me that she was not going to use it until her car was paid for. Now that it's totaled she never will have the chance. So I had to explain to her what the two kinds of MINI owners were. Two kinds of MINI owners; The first group got the car because it gets good gas milage or it's "cute" they drive the shortest route between two places and are the ones that never wave to another MINI owner on the road. Also can be observed in parking lots usually parked as close to the store as possible not caring about door dings or shopping carts. The second group got their MINI because its "FUN" to drive, takes the long way home especially if they can get any kind of turns involved while maintaining their speed. Waves at every MINI that they see on the road even members of the first group and parks as far out in the parking lot as possible. Gets extremely upset at the sight of a 4X4 parked next to their MINI when they walk out of the store not understanding why the 4X4 had to park next to them in the first place. I guess I know what her next car will be
Your description of owners and attitudes is right on and well said. I'm happy to say that I have met a large number of the latter group recently which is really encouraging. Steve
Chief, this is **so** you!!! "Coffee is not a matter of life & death. It is much more important than that." I saw this picture & my jaw hit the ground --- winner!!!!
Looks like the SCMM are going to be going thru our hood later this summer Sept. 8-11, 2011. They are staying Thursday night in Oakhurst, then driving up 49, staying in Murphys Friday night, and going on over the Sierras and back down the next two days. This could be fun Here is the link. http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=ck8gtsdab&et=1105046558388&s=681&e=001jSrkJTreSplHw6mMSQC-zmFnVrDD7BU0z0Mcpqzs-xqs4pYKfpOnQZQ1S3JhCyeLQmPF5OCp4Tlw0-84VsdLKoRafk7ogd-S27r_SUq5A7yd5L1lsOPH20uohUPaR-EVJXNN88pCLx2CLj9RKRNjXQXMQanwbKSH9U_HtelVMV8=
Chief..... There's a third MINI owner type you overlooked..... The one who enjoys owning and driving both, waves at everybody (regardless of how many fingers are displayed) and parks where-ever it'll fit... :useless
Steve I was told by Boostex that you CMS are a dealer for the new Sprintex Super Charger for the MCS? If so do you have one for me to come by and look at it?
Hey all, I'm buying new handheld radio and would like some input as to what seems to be the preferred model, type to buy. I'm looking at the Motorola MR 350 currently but am willing to change if a better model is out there. Neil
What you need is a tire pressure monitor system, or at least get the one in your car looked at........:arf:
I think you'll be fine with the Motorola. The sound quality sucks most of the time anyway since people have cheap ones that sound like crap and most people speak too close to the mic. If everyone had expensive ones then it would matter more. The better quality units do clean up the sound a bit. Just my opinion, I'm no radio expert. Steve
Motorola has always made great radio stuff. You also amy want to check out the Cobra PR250WX (micro talk). Like Motorola, they've been in the radio business for ever and have always had a quality product as well. We have had them for a few years and have never had a problem. Mostly used on vacation and trips to the desert or beach on the quads. Used 'em on a couple MINI runs and they worked well too. They claim to have an 8 mile distance, have 22 channels, 38 privacy codes, 10 channel NOAA, scan, call alert, etc. Just my 2 bits worth... Happy hunting. Jon.
Decisions almost to many decisions... with over 10 million combinations of MINI Coopers choosing a replacement for Suzie is not easy. She is selling her MY Bee to our daughter who's car was totaled by the insurance company. Moving into an "S" and it looks like a 07 or newer convertible is where were at. Xenon headlights are a manditory and she is looking at an automatic. Time will tell and this next month will be interesting as we look at all the available options and choices.
