    I still have a lot of work on these to make where I like them. Clearance for hatch closer without rubbing,some real spacer not washers,fill in the decal preform so it is smooth, eliminate one of the adjusting holes and a different
    height position. I am going to try to rise it more but still stay within the lines of its design. I think I can go about 1/2 more then someone already did with this set? I might grind off the center fin/spoiler and install my shark fin in its place to clean up the roof? What do you think?

    Sweet! Not sure what you mean by this? "I might grind off the center fin/spoiler and install my shark fin in its place to clean up the roof?"

    Hi every buddy. I found something interesting out today. Do you know if Mynes tunes your car that they lockup the ECU so nobody else could open it and evidently that includes the Mini dealers. I can understand their reasoning behind this, but I think they should at least tell you that they did this. So now what I have to do is to take my ECU out and send them so they can release the lock and reflash It back to stock. Then I can get retuned.

    Randy, all the Mynes Tuned MINI using the Bytetronik Tuning Kit is 'locked' from unauthorized Access. But if someone has purchased Bytetronik Tuning Kit (which comes with the FullAccess Software), then the ecu becomes accessible to the customer/end-user/tuner. And that's why we offered the initial discount to our previously Mynes Tuned customers.
    ============================
    The Bytetronik MINIFlash Tuning Kit is a comprehensive tuning solution for the MINI R50/52/53 owners, providing them the capabilities to fully adjust the mappings inside their stock ECUs. The kit contains both hardware and software components with the following features and capabilities:

    Hardware: The hardware is the MINIport OBD-II device along with a USB cable (see picture below). The MINIport also doubles as a data-logger device and can also log AFR (provided you have an Innovate LC1 device) serially. DOES NOT WORK WITH AEM, PLX DEVICES OR ANY OTHER WIDEBAND SERIAL COMMUNICATION. ONLY INNOVATE PRODUCTS (LC1 and MTX-L AFR Kits) ARE SUPPORTED AT THIS TIME.

    Software: The FullAccess (FA) software is a Bytetronik proprietary software designed specifically for the MINI R53 platform. It’s about 10MB in size and can easily be installed on any Windows Platform (Windows 2000 or newer with a minimum of 512MB of RAM).
    ============================
    This is done to protect our Proprietary code from being copied or stolen, but most importantly, prevent damage to your motor due to the loading of a "mis-matched" map into your ecu (i.e. from a MINI Dealer). This locking feature only applies to the "reflashing" operation, and the OBD II functions are 100% operational (i.e. you can have the dealer clear and check codes, clear adaptations, and also take it to get it legally SMOG - but they can not perform a SW update to a "FA" ecu).

    Imagine your car has the 550 tune and you took your car in to a dealership for service. Unbeknownst to you, the SA updates your ecu with the latest Software update, but that can spell catastrophe to your engine. If you run the factory tune on the 550s with all your mods, then you risk washing out the rings and the potential to a HUGE repair bill.

    All the Mynes Tunes are locked from unauthorized access (from the Evo's to MINI's)... But with FullAccess, that becomes a non-issue b/c it will be "unlocked" for you.

    If you would like your ecu flashed back to Factory form, please mail the ECU back to us and we will perform this service FOC. If you need expedited shipping, pls included a check for the return freight charge; otherwise, it will go back to you on Ground Service.

    Once you get the ECU back from us, please connect to your car and fire it up to make sure it starts. Once it is confirmed that the car starts, then you can take it from there and take it to your tuner of choice.

    cheers.
    mike

    Hmmm.....well......it seems there are some tuners out there that are "sharing" other tuners tunes with other software companies :( A little digging will explain some of this.....but as this is a light hearted thread this would not be the place to talk about it :) Randy I hope you get it all figured out :Thumbsup: BTW....I love my Bytetronik MINIFlash Tuning Kit, gives me complete access to everything I want to do and my tuner to do :cornut:

    Its not my fence and we are moving.
    When we get to Fresno I will be concerned with what my neighbors think about me fence!:lol:

    Checkers: Technically speaking if you bought MYNES FA (Full Access) the one you choose to help you calibrate your ECU should be using the product you purchased as the tool to accomplish this. The FA program makes it very easy to "cut and paste" calibrations which you could do yourself but in the end does not represent a calibration specific for your MINI.
    I recommenced finding a dealer capable of utilizing FA and knowledgeable to do ECU/EFI Calibration assisting you in calibrating your ECU to your MINI.

    EFI/ECU Calibration is not as easy as some would have you believe. Emulation however the highest form of flattery with regards to ECU calibrations is still copied unless educated in the field of ECU calibration. In other words** "you can not self learn all the knowledge needed to do it successfully".
    Personally if I do not get myself up to speed on ECU/EFI Calibration I am going to be hiring Jason @ MYNES to assist me. I have FA BTW the same as you.

    I'm glad for all of you who real like the way your car is tuned, but I'm just worried about mine. I've had it tuned 3 time. Twice by Mynes once in Vegas and once at thier shop, but I still have a problem with it. I did not have it after my first tune. It could be that I might have to live with it, but I thought I would try a different tuner and see. My car has aftermarket parts from many different venders so I'm not locked in to just a few but I go with what I think is the best for me.

    Wow really? This is the first time I am hearing this from you. When we did the FA tutorial class in Fresno and you were there. I asked you if there is any problems with your tune after it has been almost a year since the last time we tweaked your MINI. You said " Car is running great, and great MPG too!" The only issue you said was about the shifting as it spudder a bit when it shifts near the max shift point RPM. When you were at the shop in Lake Forest on the dyno I showed you in the logs why this was happening. In the logs I showed you when an auto MCS shifts, the EGS (trans computer) sends a torque decrease demand, torque output, and shift command to the DME through CAN messages. This information tells the DME (ECU) to prepare for a upshift by reducing torque to prevent damage to the transmission and to prevent detonation for the engine between shifts (By the way ALL AUTOS HAVE THIS FUNCTION). The ECU will retard ignition timing and or decrease throttle angle between shifts. This happens pretty fast. I showed in the logs you were running 25 degrees of timing at the point before the EGS sends that torque reduction request and shift request, and once it did, your ignition timing went from 25 degrees down to - 3 degrees momentarily to prepare for the shift. This happens all the time in auto MCS vehicles. Now, if your transmission doesn't shift fast enough, then yes you will get that spudder or if it is bad it would get a slip or hit the max rev limiter which makes it even worse as the ECU closes the throttle angle from 82 degrees to about 40 degrees. Also this gets worse as if you are making more power and torque over the stock configuration. And if your trans have a little wear and doesn't shift with the commanded shift request, there no software update you can do about that. My buddy just had his trans replaced at MINI with a $10,000 ticket and thank god he had extended warranty. He had it worse than you, it would slip at low speed shifts and sometimes make the engine stall. Now none of those things are happening now since MINI replaced his transmission.

    It would have been nice to know if there were any other issues besides that, and you indicated there was no other issues when I talked to you in Fresno at the FA tutorial class at Custom Mini Shop. But this story sounds familiar because this was the same thing you told us when we tuned your car at AMVIV 2009 about the other tuner and wanted us to tune it, so if you didn't have a problem with the first tune, you should have went back to him... doesn't make any sense? Anyways, I guess you like to toggle around back and fourth. But we can unlock your ECU for you with no problem, but you will get it back with your stock ROM and you can have someone else tune it for you and would be happy to return it back to stock for you. :wink:
