Never too old. I bought mine when I was 50 also as a 50th birthday present to myself (53 now). My kids know better. Take them for a real ride after you get it going again and that will change their mind. Or maybe they will just think you've really lost it. I never named a car before my MINI but I did anyway. Walter The 2006 did come from the factory with the JCW kit. The factory kit differences are the exhaust is one piece instead of two in the dealer kit, it come with the JCW brakes, and the LSD. Those last two are nice additions to have. The JCW suspension is still a dealer add on. But there are a lot of other options for that. It's a rare thing when Dave is incorrect on R53 stuff. Someone mark it on the calendar.
Jim, If you have a way of making a call this is the number of my Mini Shop. Owner is factory trained and may know from taking a listen over the phone ??? Hope this helps: Ryan G. Motorworks 530-305-2499. Ask to speak with Ryan.
Well F I was wrong. ( that's once this year ):nonod: The last of the first gens must have had it as a option. * I bet it was to move the last of the first gen JCW parts off the shelves before the greatest French turbo motor came out in the 2nd gen R56.:lol::lol::lol: Still not a big deal as it really does not add much value to the car. I have a 05 JCW that makes much more power to the wheels then all the JCW and each of the GP, the original and the GP II that are rated at the crank and not the wheels.
Sorry, halfway meant my car and I are back in Colorado. The second half is getting the car running right.
The advantage of the factory jcw is you don't have to wonder if it was ordered with LSD. It was. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
For me it was not about someone being right or someone being wrong; I do not want to perpetuate bad information. As one of my favorite talk show hosts (Dennis Prager) frequently states, "I prefer clarity over agreement."
Hold it right there! We will have no clarity or agreement! Especially when Dave is involved!:lol:
:lol::lol::lol::lol: True, but I was just trying to help a new R53 owner out. Long live the R53, the best looking modern MINI EVER made.
I am home and my car is fixed! I got my timing chain tensioner and Bently manual today. Went to the DMV to get temp tags because I bought the car in another state and have to get a VIN verification before I can register it officially. By the time I got home the sun was down so l grabbed a flashlight and some tools. (Yes, my Mini is an outdoor Mini!.) Fifteen minutes later MISTURBD was back to her old self. I would like to once again thank everyone for their assistance and support. And hopefully Dave will forgive me for costing him his only allowable mistake for 2016.
Glad to hear you got things worked out. Don't worry about Dave, his ego healed within nano-seconds. And, it probably won't take too long for him to piss you off. :biggrin5: CD
