Thanks for all the replies. I went for 16' to 17' and really like the look. My problem is that in Aug. I fell and fractured my L2 vertebra. I installed lumbar supports in the seats which are a godsend, I'm just looking for any improvement I can get. After all, getting to the Dragon in of prime importance....

The dodging of potholes makes for fun driving.

It's the ruts that concern me. Not just the dirt/gravel roads. There are some old asphalt roads that have scrape marks on the high point between the ruts. Even in a stock ride height mini I'll try to straddle one of the ruts as best as I can.
I guess I could avoid those roads but there's not a lot to choose from around here. -

^^^ Me too at times, but then I consider the source & move on. Life is too short to worry about such things. Or am I wrong about that?

So what's the best shock for the money? I'm not going to lower the car, the wheel gap looks fine in stock form to me. Also, how big can I go with wheel spacers on a second gen.

Goldsmithy MINI Alliance AmbassadorArticles Moderator Supporting MemberBut Dave...how do you know where to put your stickers???
apparently, correct sticker placement will add at least 25 bhp at the rear wheels.:devil -
Goldsmithy MINI Alliance AmbassadorArticles Moderator Supporting MemberColin, what spring/shock combination would you suggest? I wouldn't mind lowering less than an inch, but the softest ride possible. I have confidence in your products and integrity so any advice will be appreciated.

What do you have on the car now for suspension?
Does it have lowering springs or after market shocks? -
Goldsmithy MINI Alliance AmbassadorArticles Moderator Supporting MemberStock shocks and springs...with a 19mm rear sway bar.

So I talked to Koni about FSD and Lowering Springs. Thought I'd share the exchange.

Just FYI, I also reduced the height of the bump rubbers when I installed them, so it's not been a bad ride overall. Perhaps not ideal, but better than the totally blown right front OEM shock I had.
