First time I heard it (this is my first MINI) I crapped my pants thinking there was a problem with the MINI.
-
I think I heard it once last "winter".

Yep, mine dinged at me last night. I had to make an emergency run to my plant to get a machine running again - it alway surprises me the first time it does that!

Jim, I am sure someone could fix you up on the loader, perhaps a take-off from that non-turbo engine.

Mine did the same thing. Yes, even here in California. I had to figure out what the chime was for but the snowflake kinda gave it away.

My dealer has a sweet set of winter wheels and tires for sale.
Wish I could afford them. The winter wheels would look better than the my regular ones. LOL
