I thought this would be a good progression thread to keep track of Lil Beast's transformation from an ordinary R56 JCW to a mean little TA monster.

    STOCK Configuration:
Event 1: Car in its stock form ran 1:32 back in Sept... with these mods:
    - Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 tires
    - K&N Intake system
    - Enkei racing wheels
    - VP 103 Racing fuel

    -------------------

Event 2: Took the other TWIN - "Sweet Pea" - Blue JCW R56 to Spring Mountain for the Redline #7 stop. On the same identical setup as Lil Beast in Event 1, she ran 2:51.428... Sweet Pea is a little heavier b/c she has a sun roof and Lil Beast does not.

    For compairison: #38 (Integra Type R) ran 2:47.969 = that's 3.5 sec faster than the R56.

    -------------------

    Stage I Mods:
Event 3: For Redline TA Stop #8, we added the following mods to "Lil Beast" now that the Eibach Springs are completed and prototyped.
    - ABF Upgraded IC
    - Mynes Custom Tune
    - ABF's Spec Eibach custom lowering Spring (Prototype)
    - ABF Spec Racing Pads
    - ABF Custom Turboback exhaust
    - OS Racing Clutch
    - OS Racing Diff

Car did really good and ran 1:59.595 and took 1st in the Stock FWD class...
    http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/racing-mini-s/1978-abf-mynes-r56-ta-podiums-cal-speedway-first-place-finish.html

    For compairison: #38 (Integra Type R) ran 2:03.404 = that's almost 4 seconds slower than the R56.

So assuming the Type R made no changes between Stop #7 and #8, the R56 did a total improvement of 7.5 seconds (yeah, i know this is not a fair assessment, but it's good for referencing to see how much improvment were made based on the above upgraded parts in relation to a fellow car).

    -------------------

Event #4: Redline 2009 Time Attack Customer Appreciation Day @ Streets of Willow Springs

Lil Beast JCW ran 1:27.6...compared to its previous run of 1:32, that's almost 5 seconds faster...

    -------------------

What's in store for 2010? Only time will tell. Lil Beast will be a dedicated TA car that will used for racing and R&D for ABF and Mynes Tuning solutions... very much looking forward to the new year...

Hope everyone a very Merry Merry Christmas!!!

    cheers.

I didn't see anywhere in the post that they're claiming it was a record for SOW... just their own record at SOW for the R56.
Was that other 1.27 turned with an R56? Come on now.

Great times Mike. Especially considering how stock the R56 is.
Is this the same yellow Mini you had at the Carson drive event? That thing felt like a serious monster!

Going for a spin in that made me long for an LSD in my convertible automatic.

Not sure these days what I was thinking on that particular combination!
    :mad2:

Looking forward to seeing the numbers drop once the boost gets turned up!

Sorry, guess I misunderstood. Maybe instead of this:

    ABF|MYNES Tuned R56 JCW SOW record = 1.27.691

    It could have read this:

    Record for a ABF/MYNES Tuned R56 JCW at SOW = 1.27.691

..and I wouldn't have been mistaken.

Yep, it's the same Yellow JCW that was at the Carson event (the latest ABF Road Tour event)... going thru the mod progressions really shows how much potential there is in these R56's

For your Automatic R56 (?), i don't think you'll need that LSD unless you track that car. Installing the clutch and LSD is a LOT of work so i don't recommend it unless you're seriously thinking about tracking it... if you want some more usable power, a custom reflash would do the trick. PM me if you're interested, it's a lot less than $600 and it's been tested for 3 months on our cars both on the tracks and on the streets...

    cheers.

It's no mistake, let me rephrase it:

    SOW Records:
MINI R56: ABF|MYNES Tuned R56 JCW Street Car with Stage I mods= 1:27.691 (DOT Tires)

    MINI R53: Sean Patrick Flannery = 1:27.653;

    ButtonWillow:
    MINI R56: ?
MINI R53: Mynes Tuned|ABF Built Turbo conversion car = 2:00....

You guys need to do a SERIOUS update on this thread LOL

    Randy

JCW R56 goes 1.24.103 at Street of Willow

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just heard from the ABF / MINI USA Time Attack team that after all the fuss about the 1.27s last year that they decided to go back out today and try to miss the 1.26s and go straight into the 1.25s.

The biggest problem as you can see is that Dez and the MINI went into the 1.24s and nearly missed them and ended up in the 1.23s

What is more astonshing was the above was acheived on the Yokohama 180 treadwear street tyres and not slicks

All you JCW owners dont know how lucky you are to have such an excellent platform

Since the last outing the ECU has been re-tuned by the Mynes team to have its useable power band moved upto 7500, this and other prototype engine and suspension parts have worked togeather to run this truly outstanding time.

There's nothing like proving yourself at the TRACK......

Yes, it is nice to see a company actually test their products on the track and show improvements and break some new ground.
