I loved my Access Port on my Subie. I could switch tunes with a couple of buttons and either get more power or save some gas. The best was valet mode that limited the car to 3000 rpm.

There always seems to be one for sale in the classified section in these forums. I hope you know that the Accessport only works on the 2007 to 2010 R56. Btw, i love the immediate 240 ft/lbs torque it gives me.

The added bonus is get a good custom tune with it and you can get more power and better mileage. The little "dyno" info is cool too.
I'd have one only it won't work on an R53 -
Personally I would never have one. Too many bad stories about blown engines from non-tuners believing they have become tuners overnight. Not bashing, just expressing my personal opinion. I opted to trust Jan at RMW to tune my Coupe (N14) and I couldn't be happier with the results. I believe that they work well on some other models, like the Subie, but they seem to go up for sale quite often when purchased by a MINI owner. Again, certainly not bashing, just my opinion.

Yes I do notice that they show up on the used market quite often. Same as the Unichimp. To me that says something.
No tuna on my car, but if I was going to I'd have someone who knows how do the tune. Be advised that not all who tune know how. RMW/Jan is one who does know.
