Ok I'll try to be more helpful. I know on the first gen minis there was a recall or service order I can't remember witch. But it had to do with a wiring problem on the passenger side seat. You may want to check with MINI USA. I will look and see if I can find when the work was done on my car. They told me at the time that some time it took a hole new harness but they were able to fix my Mini with out doing all that.
Not that it mattered because then the left side mat went bad and the light came back on.
