I've seen the 4C in San Francisco a couple of times, and I think the design is stunning. It doesn't look like just another sports car and conveys style and character, which is so rare in modern cars.

CARMEL, Calif. -- Pricing for the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will start at $65,495, with U.S. sales of the hand-built convertible expected to begin in August, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said today.
It will be the second Alfa Romeo model introduced in the U.S. after the 4C coupe marked the brand’s return in 2014.
The 4C coupe and 4C Spider are assembled in Modena, Italy, and combined 2015 output is expected to total just 2,500 vehicles. North American sales of the two models are forecast at 800 to 1,000 vehicles this year.
Optional equipment on the 4C Spider will include a carbon fiber halo ($2,750), carbon fiber hardtop ($3,500) and racing exhaust package ($3,000).

Cayman over the Alfa? Cayman's are a dime a dozen anymore. Maybe a Cayman S, but I'd still take the Alfa over that without a second thought. You have to see the Alfa. The Alfa slaughters a Cayman on the track, at least until the transmission overheats. The Cayman's advantage is that it's more civilized, the Alfa doesn't have power steering so it's a bit tougher around town; it is in between a Lotus and a Cayman--more comfortable than a Lotus, not as comfortable as a Cayman.

As for reliability, it's like choosing between a frozen fork in the eyeball, or a flaming spear in the rectum. Neither is particular enjoyable (to most people, there are exceptions, at least two of which frequent these boards), like Italian car reliability, it's kind a coin toss.-

I read somewhere the U.S.-spec version is a few hundred pounds heavier. I think that's something like a 15% gain? Didn't read the full article to learn why.

I also thought it was strange that there isn't one in Indy, but rather one in the Northeast and one in the Southwest corners of the state. -

Alfa Romeo is official...
They had to increase the thickness of the carbon fiber main canopy tub to meet impact standards, added air and stereo as standard equipment and a few other things..... I think it went up 286 pounds if I remember correctly over European model... -

Stumbled on this because it was one of the videos offered during my flight to Seattle on Alaska Airlines.
An interesting mix of high tech automation and intensive manual labor. I was blown away at watching the hood formed (11:00).

I enjoyed that...
Would love to own a 4C, but just not sure it would be reliable.... And then the question of capable dealerships.... And then if it ever got hit.... What body shop would have the skills to find all of the damaged carbon fiber glued on parts and repair them properly... -

Does Fiat hope to reach the lofty Alfa allure... Or is Alfa trying to distance themselves from the lowly Fiat allure?
Which lure are we fishin with here? -

Gotta love Jalopnik's title: "This wing has an Alfa Romeo 4C attached to it"
-
That looks like someone designed/built it after way too many brews.
