I've seen the 4C in San Francisco a couple of times, and I think the design is stunning. It doesn't look like just another sports car and conveys style and character, which is so rare in modern cars.

 

Cool one one in PA on the other side of the state by Pittsburgh. The other two are in New Jersey where you have to pay a toll to leave the state once you enter. (no thank-you)

 

CARMEL, Calif. -- Pricing for the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will start at $65,495, with U.S. sales of the hand-built convertible expected to begin in August, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said today.

It will be the second Alfa Romeo model introduced in the U.S. after the 4C coupe marked the brand’s return in 2014.

The 4C coupe and 4C Spider are assembled in Modena, Italy, and combined 2015 output is expected to total just 2,500 vehicles. North American sales of the two models are forecast at 800 to 1,000 vehicles this year.

Optional equipment on the 4C Spider will include a carbon fiber halo ($2,750), carbon fiber hardtop ($3,500) and racing exhaust package ($3,000).

Saw a hard top 4C in person last night. It is one of many appealing cars that I will never drive.

 

Still think I'd take a Cayman.

 

Cayman over the Alfa? Cayman's are a dime a dozen anymore. Maybe a Cayman S, but I'd still take the Alfa over that without a second thought. You have to see the Alfa. The Alfa slaughters a Cayman on the track, at least until the transmission overheats.The Cayman's advantage is that it's more civilized, the Alfa doesn't have power steering so it's a bit tougher around town; it is in between a Lotus and a Cayman--more comfortable than a Lotus, not as comfortable as a Cayman.

 

I dunno, neither is noted for reliability, yet both are cars Clarkson claims a true car enthusiast must own at one time or another.

As for reliability, it's like choosing between a frozen fork in the eyeball, or a flaming spear in the rectum. Neither is particular enjoyable (to most people, there are exceptions, at least two of which frequent these boards), like Italian car reliability, it's kind a coin toss.

 

Cinci probably didn't get one because there is one in Florence, KY.

I also thought it was strange that there isn't one in Indy, but rather one in the Northeast and one in the Southwest corners of the state.

 

They may be taking orders, but it was my understanding it'd be 18 months until you actually got one. I was very tempted.

 

The 4C Spyder, yes I would..... Now to convince the wife it is in our retirement budget! :cryin:

 

Stumbled on this because it was one of the videos offered during my flight to Seattle on Alaska Airlines.

An interesting mix of high tech automation and intensive manual labor. I was blown away at watching the hood formed (11:00).

It's an Alfa. They're not supposed to be reliable. They make them break down on purpose. It's part of their allure.

Here's a photo of an Alfa I saw in the hotel parking lot when I was checking out in Northern France last week. Looks like a Fiat to me!

 

That looks like someone designed/built it after way too many brews.
