Furthermore, any post information now forms 1/3 of the screen width from the side, as opposed to starting at 1/6th of the way in. This is bothersome. Bring up that other site and M/A in two tabs and switch between them. You'll see how the information on the side takes up post space, will require more scrolling, and makes sigs no longer appear on the bottom. It is great that Nathan wants to create a unique image for M/A, but this seems to sacrifice a little usability.
Just worry about content - Some of us accept change better than others, but I would hazard a guess, and say most of us will be use to the new look in a few days and will not look back.
Actually, we want to hear all the opinions. Nabeshin, what resolution are you using and on what size monitor?
I can add a method to make it user selectable possibly. As stated before there is a hack for this but I would need to test it first. That said there are some known flaws. If a user has the postbit set to be on the left as it is right now, on a quick reply it will place the postbit in the previous vertical position until the page is refreshed. For you geeks this has to do with Ajax. In addition the hack is not planned to be supported in the new vBulletin 4.x. This site will not be moving to that for months but the user switchable postbit ability will most likely be lost at that time.
I'm a vote against... I'm on a 1024x768 laptop.... Post width is limited as is. This seems to be a space waster by narrowing the field. As posts get longer and longer, a lot of area will be given over to nothing but blank space. Matt
I've also noticed that if there are quotes in posts, the width of the space on the left is lessened. All in all I find it a funky aesthetic. Matt
Cool... One other thing I noticed... Is that memebers with really long names have a much wider verticle band.... Matt
THAT'S IT! Stop changing the layout! Just when I start liking something you change it, then I get used to that and you change it back! I'm never coming here again! Okay, not really! Either way works for me. I never noticed but it really did narrow down the post width. Thanks for listening. Think that ever wouldda happened on the sewing site?
