    get Predictibly Irrational, by Dan Ariely. Anyway, there is lots, and lots, and lots of research on this stuff going on and it's facinating. while we can't excape our tendancies, it's been very helpfull to me to know some of what they are, as with awareness, one can reconginze when one is acting in a pattern and choose to act differently.

    The consiquences for stuff like this on politics and traditional economics cannot be overstated. It's just HUGE... Anyway, it's a great read.

    Cool, thanks Matt. I'll pick it up. Irrational behavior fascinates me. I'm always interested to know why otherwise intelligent people make incredibly unreasonable decisions, myself included.

    It is an interesting subject. During my 30 years in law enforcement I was always amazed at the reason people gave for committing a crime. Oddly enough, the intelligent, well educated ones gave the most bazaar reasons. They knew it was wrong, knew what the outcome would be, yet did it anyway and justified it in their own minds. :eek:ut:

    Then you can tell me this: why do some cops ask you dumb questions after they pull you over? Are you in a hurry? Do you always drive crazy like that? What is that all about?
