That's normal, I was my car by hand because the chemicals in those touchless carwashes destroy your paint, clearcoat and strip you car of wax.

Is that true? For all that, it's pretty amazing how poor a job they do of actually cleaning the car. :eek:ut:

The pre wash cycle at touchless and high pressure wand washes is merely highly concentrated detergent that will strip all wax from your car. It is also abrasive to assist cleaning through high pressure. Stay away...Stay away...Stay away!!!!

Actually, not all the above is true. Some of the touchless washes are pretty good.

I have found a few washes that use friendly chemicals and still do a reasonable job of getting the MINI clean. In Colorado, you need to run through a power wash since we use Magnesium Chloride on our roads for ice in the winter.

The only way to get underneath and get the MC off you have to rely on the brushless wash and the high pressure from below.

Not saying all touchless are great, I select mine carefully, I am lucky that I have a decent one close to my home. It has the option to use a generic polymer finish wax and a rainx solution rinse.

Of course, I use Hydro as I dry, about 99% of the time.

    IMHO.

I only use the touch less when I really have too. In this case I was washing off a large pile of bird poo.

Since when is it normal for the gas door not to lock when the car is in motion?

If the doors are locked the gas cap is locked. When you stop and unlock your door it also unlocks and the gas cap.

From your first post it seemed like you were saying that the door in not normally locked with the doors.

I lock the doors when I go thru the car wash and the filler door flies open when the air from drier hits it. This doesn't not happen in my Justa.

I know the filler door locks because I've checked it when the car is locked. I find it weird that its not locked when I go thru the car wash. Anyways
