Not at all. I didn't like the term at first, but now have grown to be proud of it, thus my avatar.
I agree with Steve and believe there are SOME folks out there that do think the Justa is a lesser car to the "S", and others that think the "S" is a lesser car to the JCW. There are also some that feel the need to move up from a justa to an "S", or an "S" to a JCW, due to the appearance factor. In truth, they are all three great cars, so which one you buy is simply dependent on the needs of the owner and nothing else. IMHO anyway. I could have afforded any of the three and chose the justa.

Welcome to M/A.
Derived from phrases like "It's not an S, it's just a Cooper." Thus Justa Cooper, Justa for short. Has nothing to so with modifications, just means it wasn't born with a supercharger or turbocharger.
A term used by those who see the Cooper as a lesser car -- in a derogatory way by some -- and at the same time proudly and defiantly embraced by those of us who love our Coopers. I'm from the latter group, I bought my MC new in '02 and I'm still addicted.
Welcome to the madness but watch out, it's easy to go overboard. I've spent roughly as much on mods, accessories and associated gear/goods as the car cost new. -

I do not see it as a derogatory term at all. I think it's cute, justa like all MINI's are be they S's or Justa's they are all good. A Justa will corner as well as an S & to my thinking that is where the fun comes from.
Did a track day a year or so ago & a Justa was lapping a fellow in his modded S. I like the S too, but it is not needed to have fun.
Welcome to M/A & enjoy your new MINI!

Steve AdministratorStaff Member Articles ModeratorI did say some use it in a derogatory way, and you know that's true even if it's a minority. For everyone else it's a term of endearment and most of us Justa owners take it (and use it) in exactly that sense.

I saw your some Steve.
Justa wanted people to know I do not feel that way. I use that term a lot. No harm no foul.
Sadly you are correct about some people. I once met a classic Mini owner who went on & on about my car not being British. Him >:incazzato: Me > Like Mom said it takes all kinds.

Holy Kittens..... I never would have considered my banter with Justa Jim as derogatory. I'm hoping Jim doesn't see it that way. If so, my apologies in advance.....

Oh yea. You will find no ill will here from the M O M (mid Ohio motoring) crowd for a justa owner.
I too am a justa owner and have never felt like I was not welcomed.
This a great place to hang out and learn/enjoy MINIs.
Welcome to the addiction. -
