Do not go with a 19%. The heat increase out weighs the boost. With my 17% pulley I have a delta of about 50 deg. on the intake temp and that was a cool 40 deg day! Also on a MINI you are not just turning the SC faster but also the water pump (its driven off the back of the SC). If you turn it too fast it can cause cavitation. There are a lot of other variables to look at beside just boost increase. There is heat rise, greater demand for fuel, if you push it in can you get it out the exhaust, just to name a few.
Also 2% bigger does not equal 2% shorter life it is not linear.

The faster the supercharger spins the more heat it generates. They don't call it a Heaton supercharger for nothing.
This is a known FACT and I am not going to sit here and explain the basics of physics to you.
If you want to make big power buy a Sprintex.-

It makes no sense to go above 17%...Belt squealing, slippage, and heat--not worth a tiny 2% gain. Sure some run them with no problems, but that just confounds the issue. It's not the few who haven't had issues, but the many who have that we should focus on.
I agree 100% with Colin, 15% is safe and spinning above that at high RPMs is fruitless, but hot. 17%, ok, if you're looking for down low and never Rev high. 19%, not worth it.
Kind of funny Jim, you blast Dave for "lambasting" anyone who doesn't agree with him, but you yourself seem to only post here anymore to lambast Dave....
Sometime a mirror is an unflattering object.-

Yeah 15% is the safe and sane option.
I only went to a 17% because I have a meth kit and just wanted to see what happened.
It had such a heat gain on my "old" blower it was not worth it
But making power the right way will never be cheap regardless of what car you are modifying.-

Man I've been missing all the fun.
I like it here because everyone is helpfull. Dave has always gone out of his way to help people on this sight. A lot of good advice has been given but Rogue made an off the wall statement that was directed at Dave. You want a 19% pulley fine but you better get a more efficient Intercooler, maybe meth, oil cooler(inter engine times will go up), bigger injectors, cam, ect....... To say a 17% pully is 2% shorter life span and 19% is 4% compared to a 15 is well............................... stupid. I read a lot before I went with a 17 I knew I was pushing it but I had planed to do more before now just haven't had a chance. 19% is over the top unless you plan on spending some big money.
Rogue If you don't belive me when I get home I will do another data run and post the temp delta. Oh yea even with the two size shorter SC belt I still get slippage some time.
Oh help I'm starting to sound like Dave! :frown2:-

One more point...
If you run redline with the a pulley, the oil temps spike...
More a result of the water pump cavating (forming vacume bubbles), which results in temps going up in the block...and the stock oil cooler looses coolant flow...
So I suggest again...
15% for track...
17% for more of an easygoing street driver...
19% if you like big $$$ and breaking stuff....-

The welds on the old Forge I/Cs had a tendency to crack and leak... Pressure test that puppy!

The Howerton/AquaMist systems are the best... A little more saving might be worth it, they are only a couple hundred more.
I bought an Alcohol Injection Systems .com kit long ago, ($600) and shoulda gone with the best first time around... It was a pain sorting all of the problems out.-

I have driven my car days without the bushings in the tensioner and it did not grenade into my ATI damper.
You could just as well put washers on the ends of the little shock to stop it from sliding off the bolts when the bushings go because it will not extend long enough to reach the damper.
Those $20 pieces of metal are not worth a damn no matter what version you have. WMW, ALTA and whoever else makes them.
It all based on fear and BS shady marketing.-

Got the new tensioner by way of brown truck yesterday and idler pulley and tensioner tool should get here today. I'll order my ATI crank pulley, poly bushings to rebuild the tensioner and 15% SC pulley kit after the dust has settled for this month. Between my youngest sons birthday on the 17th, Christmas and my 18th wedding anniversary on the 28th, my wallet is about ready to tap out. Lol
