mmm...Hard Candy smells like....candy while applying..... Losing light here, polishing up for a car show tomorrow. Pictures sometime tomorrow... This is not your Daddy's wax....impressive....:biggrin5:
I'll be honest, I got caught up in all the great chrome and paint on all sorts of rides...I didn't take any great shots of the GP at the car show. Best one I took is the top photo. And it shows something I noticed about this wax. The reflections are deep and clear...ultra clear even. The lower photo is after we drove home I went to find an empty parking lot with little reflections. What reflections it did catch, were still amazingly clear after a long day, around 300 miles in our dusty summer here in Nebraska. Bugs fell off when I needed to polish it up after we arrived, and once I got home. The Hard Candy is very hard. Great stuff!
Today Rainforest Rub and Diamond White pots arrived, and some Lime Prime, and Lime Prime Lite. Tropical Mist detail spray should be here later this week, and a Wookie Fist mitt. Later this week I'll post some close up shots, before and after. Going with wash, rinse, quick detail spray and buff, clay job, quick detail spray, polish and sealing, hard wax, buff, soft wax, buff...and I figure out what to do after that once I see it. Not a one day project, so the soft car cover will get some duty in between steps.
Photos of the GP with five coats of DJ Blue Velvet Pro on the blue areas, with four coats of Diamond White and two coats of Light Fantastic on the roof. Washed with DJ Basics of Bling Soap, then it was clayed, then waxed by hand with DJ Supernatural Finger Mitts, and rubbed and buffed with lotsa mircofiber, final buffing done with DJ Supernatural Buffing Towels. This wax smells great when you work with it, gives a really wet look, and the Blue Velvet Pro is working great for me, water beads great, bugs pretty much rinse off, and it's very durable. I scored some Supernatural Wax...probably going to change up to that for October.
Funny how when I started this thread I didn't have a GP and its come in handy years later. Gonna try to get some cleaning in soon and give hard candy a go on the GP2.
Well, because this thread was resurrected I have now placed an order for the paste wax. I used the red juice and loved it's quick detail results, now I'm graduating to the real deal.
Thinking of ordering a 30ml sample size of Purple Haze to try on the Coop (when good weather and time off work coincide). Does DJ leave any white residue on black trim, rubber, etc? I don't want to try Dave's "secret sauce" on the black trim just to have white crap all over it from waxing/polishing. I am new to serious detailing, and in need of good advice about procedures and products to use. Sure, I've taken good care of my cars in the past, but it's only since I've owned this Chili Red beauty that I want to make it stand out even more.
Nope it will not leave white marks and since your black trim is already treated you will be fine. With a 30 ml pot you can do one MINI at least 3 times. The key is a little goes a looooooong way.
Thanks, Dave. Going to order the Purple Haze 30ml, and whatever else I can find (free shipping on first order). Anything else that I should get? Off to work now, will check back later. Ray.
Order the Dodo finger wax applicators. They are supper soft and will not scratch your paint while applying wax. If you want 10% off your order add the code : amazon10. Dodo Juice Supernatural Finger Mitt, wax pad, wax applicator, foam pad, finger applicator
The samples are a great way to see if you think the stuff works. Careful though, the little jars are very slippery and don't fair well when they strike the concrete...
Just got a bottle of Dodo Juice Red Mist detailer. Bottle is smaller than expected considering the price. Plan on samples of Purple haze and wookie hand and finger mitts next week.
