Tomorrow is opening day of the Miata AutoX season. First race is at Circleville raceway. I think they are running counter clockwise which is the more fun direction
Man I would love to, but my Miata looks like a thousand piece jigsaw puzzle spread across the garage floor. I'm in the middle of a timing belt, water pump change. New hoses too, they are the part that bites. My goal is to be in the roadster by Riverrun.
Yes it is a Kart track that they do Auto-X on. Seems tailor made for a MINI. :arf: The Buckeye Miata club seems to be the one for fun Auto-X. Allen has been running with them for a few years now.
Yes the track is made for carts but is perfect for solo racing. We put a Chicago box on the one straight to limit speeds but the rest is tight enough that you don't go too fast. Had a nice group today 2 GTRs, a Noble, and a bunch of other fun stuff. Fastest time was a Miata, the Miatas got all the dry track laps. Not that anybody would have been faster the driver is an instructor and was running slicks. Circleville really is the perfect place to start autoXing easy to drive and navigate. I think Brian put the other dates on the calendar.
I have the three events at CRP listed in the 2014 Car Events, but do not have the dates listed for the rest of the Buckeye Miata sponsored events. The next date at Circleville is June 7th.
To give you an idea of the competition here are results from race #1 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AukF6iNtp5yVdGwzWFhKOFg0VVFDZDYzV2dNMmVKQWc&usp=sharing Yep I lost out on points by 6 hundredths.
Event #1: Saturday May 10th CRP Event #2: Saturday June 7th CRP Event #3: Sunday July 20th CRP Event #4: Saturday Aug 9th CRP Event #5: Sunday Aug 24th CRP Event #6: Sunday Sept 21st CRP Here is the full schedule.
Got a taste of auto-x today at the Ford Ecoboost Challenge. Got to do 3 laps in a Fiesta ST. I think a couple of us may be trying to make it out for the July event!
Mine were all in the 26's, with my best being a 26.3. I tended to always be going too fast into the turns (was making lots of noise!). Panda had a 24.7 on his last lap. JMC40's best was mid to low 27's. There was a father/son combo that were really quick in our group. The father had a 23.8 or 23.9 and the son had 24.1 or 24.2. We were in line when you ran your laps. How was the Orange ST? The next two times we saw someone start off with it, they had issues with it wanting to stall.
If you like the sound of V8's the Cobra club is running at Circleville on Sunday. I might stop down to watch for a while, they are usually really fun to watch, half try to kill themselves with speed the other half have never pressed the pedals to the floor
