Technology in search of an application....

You've already said Nitrous on the street isn't a great idea. I agree.

So how about Nitrous for the track? On a 1/4 mile dragstrip, maybe. But they do that across the pond, not so much here. A few here do stateside, but not many.

On a road track? Not the best idea, considering the vast majority of HPDE's don't allow it (in fact, I don't know a single one that does, although I'm sure there's one somewhere.). And that's what the majority of us here in the U.S. are doing.

Nitrous doesn't make sense for the vast majority of R53 MINI owners.

And Nitrous on an R50 makes even less sense, if it's possible.

I really don't think you get to decide when a thread has ended. Also why do you keep liking posts of people that are telling you your NOS idea is stupid?

Do you not get the fact that EVERYONE disagrees with you?

    Just saying.................

I post in this thread only because I have a conscience. I have learned from experience, many of them painful, a few of them expensive, what works and what doesn't. I know each time we post in this thread it gives you the attention you desire, and usually I refrain from posting here specifically because of that, but this is a bit over the top.

I have a few pm's too Mike, here and especially at NAM. And a few conversations with people who have dyno'd various cams and heads. It's surprising what you can learn in private, especially from people who don't have a stick in the fire. I encourage ANYONE looking to do any mod to the car--wether it be a head, cam, or Nitrous to do the same; call a few different vendors you trust, then talk to the people making the parts. I fell into to the trap on occasion of not doing that, and more often than not it ended badly. I've finally got it right--in fact better than I ever thought the car could be.

But as for the private pm's, conversations, etc., there are too many agendas to count. It's probably best if we kept that all private.

Well, I've dropped Jan at RMW an email asking about a tune and/or camshaft. Thumper, you seem like a decent guy, but I have a hard time following what you are talking about most of the time, and all the ****posting back and forth in this thread between you and everyone else makes me uneasy about doing business with you. A vendor should really not be name calling and so forth, it doesn't present a very professional image. Just my opinion.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

You are so right.. I agree with you!! I would not worry about this name calling... it is just the way that these 4 guys have a entertaining night. Follow Jans lead if you wish, and enjoy the results, cool?? Dont know where you are in the states, but WayMotorWorks is in Atlanta, he might be a help also.

Video.. yep, that was 4-4.5 years ago.. pretty cool yes?? I think I had ported stock valve head, OEM Cam/ Inj/ 1 ball exhaust OEM Map.. and water -meth! 257WHP 260 Tq !! that was just the beginning..... LOL
Come on Davy Baby, find a more up to date run..LOL

To everyone else, that mod cost only $400.00 and an afternoon worth of install time!! 4.5 years later.. still running strong, great engine performance, no issues with compression/ eng. managment system , just a huge tire wear issue!! LOL. But that was THEN.... LOL

The beauty of a System is that you can , within reason, up or lower HP numbers with just a jet change... Dave, are you getting this??

You all know better than to resort to actual name calling and using profanity. The axe has been dropped. Moderated posting is next.

Bumping this old thread, hope it stays civil...

I had my RMW tune done, as I posted in another thread I started. It's great, not really dramatic but I have the passing power I need and I'm happy with the results. I'm considering a trip down the Pacific Coast this fall/next spring, and I'm considering getting the RMW camshaft installed while I'm down there.

Anyone out there with a cam in their R50?

    Thanks for bumping my thread!

Still thinking about getting a cam, as it looks like I will be driving down the Coast in the spring.
