Thanks all! And thanks Tim! I bookmarked that site Ok, currently, if it will fit, I am leaning toward 17 x 7, with 215/45/17 tires. If these fit, I am good to go!
sorry to keep throwing post on this but one other thing to keep in mind. You have found out we need a 4X100 bolt pattern but also double check the width of bolt your car will take. Case in point I had a incredible set of 5Zigen's that I had ready to install and yet the width of the bolt on the 4X100 did not fit the MINI. If I recall correctly, and I am not 100%, the R56 has like a 14MM bolt. Maybe one of of the other guys has a better memory I came to find out later you can change out the studs/bolts but it is one other thing u have to deal with
2nd Gen and 1st Gen 06's from 7/06 all use a 14x1.25 lug bolt. A very odd size last used in the 70's by Alfa Romeo. The team Dynamic wheels the OP is looking at all work with both 1st and 2nd Gem MINIs. Scuttlebutt is the MINI went to this size lug bolt to promote their own wheel offerings by limiting the aftermarket options.
Yep - 14mm bolts on 2nd gen and late 1st gen cars, 12mm bolts on most 1st gen cars. Often the lug holes can be re-drilled a tiny bit to accommodate the larger bolts if necessary ... but not always...
Sooooooooooo, would a wheel and tire combo fit in a 215/45/17 with a wheel offset of 37mm? Sorry guys, I understand where the numbers are, just not sure if changing them works or not
When I was looking at a new set of wheels I priced out a set of JCW ones from the local MINI dealer. I laughed in the poor SA's face when he told me the cost.........cheeez louise
Sounds like an OZ wheel - all are +37 offset which 'push' the outer edge of the wheel/tire combo out toward the outside of the car. I run OZ Ultraleggera 17x7 with a 215-45/17 tire on our '05 MCC - lowered about 3/4" and get occasional rubbing on the lip of the rear wheel arches - when the suspension is loaded up such as a hard dip, or hard bumps when carrying a bunch of extra weight in the car. I also run the same wheels with a 215-45/17 R-comp for track wheels on my '05 MCS currently about an inch lower on 3-1/2 year old TSW v2 springs that have settled a bit. Same rubbing issues on wheel arch. Many people Dremel the lip off of the wheel arch (top area that doesn't show). So unless you've lowered the car more drastically than this, you should be fine.
Is is the Ultraleggera. My other thought would be Team Dynamics, where I can pick which offset I want. My car is not lowered at all..... darn steep driveway kinda dictates that :mad2: Gotta ride in and out on a sharp angle, pulling a wheelie everyday :rolleyes5:
I run 215/45/17 with stock off-set and loaded to the max I have no trouble. I have stock suspension and 70K on "Chili" ('03 "S"). Mark Group4
Thanks gang! I think I have figured out what I am going to get. Looking like Team Dynamics 17 x 7 with 45E wrapped in Dunlop Star Specs 215/45/17s. Will post pics whenever that happens
Got my wheels for a gift for myself in December. Just got another TPMS because I can't deal with the light on  Just ordered my tires and will have them mounted this Friday- ready to go in plenty of time for the Dragon
Sooooooooooo Put the new wheels and tires on, but it's been raining here and the MINI is a mess :mad2: Will take pics after a bath
Your car looked great after we put them on Sunday. I am sure you will enjoy them at the Dragon in a few weeks. :cornut:
Thanks Dave. After 2 days of driving, I realized that something is not balanced... sooooooo back to the shop to have them re-balanced rrr:
Ok gang, here are a few pics (note- I still haven't washed the car) My question: the car's gonna be lowering this year- maybe an inch..... do ya think everything will still fit? They seem to be sticking out farther than before (although I understand that since they are significantly wider)
