    I picked this up in Arkansas at about 1 in the morning on my way to the Dragon from Texas

    A few years back, there was an article in National Geographic (I think) that explained that the reason so many armadillos got killed by cars is that their defensive behavior is to jump straight up. It's supposed to alarm predators, but doesn't work well with cars. It looks like he got hung up when he jumped in this case.
