I have had mine since 05 and they are like new. You do have to do some maintinance on them like keep them clean and use a UV blocker. I use 303 on all my decals and have had no fading. They look new.

Like Checkers I've had graphics on my MINI since late 2005, and treat them with 303 once twice a year in the Spring and Fall. They still look as good as when they were first installed.

I've gone through two sets of stripes on my '05. They get stains from water, bird terd, bug splats, etc. I even wore through the color in a spot trying to get the stain out. Of course I completely neglect them too. I still love them though. My Mini looked naked when it was between sets. I've been thinking of doing a custom set, so it is nice to hear about using 303.

Some people have been known to put clear bra over them.
Make sure your using High Performance Cast Vinyl as well.
I have reflective vinyl on my bonnet for 3 years and counting. -
Doing this as a living once.......It really depends on the color and the quality of the vinyl used. Dark colors will always fade faster. A vinyled MINI that is garaged or covered is not exposed as much to the environment so naturally the vinyls will last longer. The sun and dry high heat are the biggest concerns with fading or wearing the vinyls . Those that mention treating the vinyl this helps slow down the wear some from UV fade and stain protection. The clear coat will reduce (depending on the brand) but not stop the uv fade. And the clear coat itself needs to be taken care of as well. Waxing it or vinyl protectants are good idea. Clear bra or clear vinyls the worst culprit is bug crapping which can stain the clear. Use meat tenderizer and let it stand for a day and then rinsing off with water should remove it. If you are having custom vinyl work done pay a little extra and get a higher grade vinyl. The production pre cut kits are not of the best quality material and will not last as long under average conditions.
You can learn a lot about all of this on the 3m product site under vinyls (faq). -

If you get graphics laminated they usually last longer too...
